2nd Gen Ford Raptor

Post by 04Ram2500Hemi » Sun Feb 23, 2020 4:44 pm

Well because I was bored and the Ford Dealership is open on Sunday, I figured I’d go drive a 2020 Raptor with the EcoPoop V6. From the outside the truck is really good looking. Once inside the seats were comfortable, but I didn’t love how my left leg sat up against the drivers door arm rest. The truck had good power leaving the dealership, but once it downshifted on the two lane highway all I wanted to do was get out of the truck as fast as possible. That fake sound they pump through the speakers is absolutely terrible. I was so happy to get back to the dealership and back in my Power Wagon. How the hell are they selling these trucks for $70,000 plus ADM?

Do you really always say that?

It's apples and oranges, different trucks for different things.

With $20k you could make a PW that will out Baja a Raptor but you'd be hard pressed to make a Raptor out tow/haul a PW.

i can out baja a raptor with my truck at X speed...the problem is just how dang slow the PW is compared to a boosted truck at full throttle..

im not quite sure if my suspension is faster then the 500HP V6...

i do know this argument is minimized with a Tune on the 6.4 but thats beyond reliability.
once my transmission is sorted or built, ill tune the truck.

I'm with ya, the $20k assumed king 2.5/3.0s, boogies, a supercharger, 37s, 5.13s, front bumper and a built trans.

or just buy a TRX and throw 37s on it :) and you'll leave both trucks in the dust no matter how much $$ you throw at it.

A test. Not a scientific test, but interesting.
Thuren Suspension RAM Power Wagon vs Ford Raptor

It's all doing more raptor type stuff than power wagon type stuff, but the PW does respectably.

i wish $20k could include those parts lol! we could probably get away with that on a best gen, but i still love my 4th gen.

honestly, im still on the boat to no way in hell FCA puts in the right axles shafts, u joints, and transfer cases we need to actually abuse/feed these TRX trucks.

I hope you’re wrong on theTRX. If Ram doesn’t screw the truck up, I plan on owning one.

I dont think they will use under rated equipment/components. I would guess that everything will hold up to a heavily used STOCK truck. I mean, they are the ones that have to warranty it.

Shit usually breaks because people put 37’s and 40’s on stuff that was rated for 33’s, and pump up the motors to put out hundreds of more hp and tq. Do that with a new trx, and yea im sure shit will break.

people put on 35s, never hit the dirt and blow an "HD" 66rfe transmission.

FCA would gladly F themselves.

And they also go 100k+ miles being beat on with 37’s and 40’s. Whats your point?

Trans can blow in 100% stock form with no abuse at all. Shit happens. To all manufacturers.
