TRX

Anybody have anymore info on this truck?

I came across these pics on the net. Certainly not like the concept truck (of course), but it does have an 8 lug rear end and different control arm mounts on the frame, and apparently 707 hp.

1500 badge on the hood and 1500 aesthetics front and rear. Plus it looks like one of those midnight edition/package (AKA murdered out).

700+ HP? I thought I read somewhere Ram was going to stuff a HC engine in one of the trucks. This maybe it.

Competition for Ford's Shelby Baja Raptor I would guess.

My biggest question is the tranny. Hellcat engines are getting easy to come by and I already have a 1500 hahaha

if the suspension, axles, and actual frame side mounts are beef enough...ill jump ship for sure.

not quite sure thats the same AAM i have now? But if i can beat on the TRX without breaking it, its a worthwhile drive train package...probably get better gas mileage too.

My hellcat did 21MPG at 85MPH....My PW does 12MPG with a tailwind.

Yes, the trx concept was based off a half ton truck, with low slung off road suspension, 37’s mudders and a hellcat motor.

I would think aerodynamics on a coupe or salon body is better suited for MPG, the truck not so much, plus premium fuel required to run that blown 6.4L. The PW is gas guzzler and for it run optimally requires ( or at least according the owner's manual) at least mid-grade albeit some swear it runs just fine on regular. Between cost of PW and annual fuel costs alone makes it a poor choice if concerned with MPG.

I'll stick with the PW. Goes slow, insatiable thirst, climbs likes a goat, and despite its idiosyncrasies, I'll get there eventually.

i actually use 93 in the PW. So im not complaining. The real gripe is the range.
200 miles and I get the empty light if im driving really like an ass hat that week.

no Long range/extended tank options, and no easy extra fuel carrying capability and its just a pain in the ass for a daily driver.

wish there was a convenient fuel storage option for our gas trucks.

I saw the TRX hands on at the Texas state fair.
Its a looker, but the undercarriage left a-lot to be desired.
im confident now with the pictures ive seen, that was not the same iteration we have today.

Transferflow cross bed fuel tank/tool box gives 40 gallons extra and a lot of storage

They also have a spare tire location auxiliary tank that’s 30 gallons I believe

I dont think they can advertise any of them for a gas vehicle? Or for storing gas, anyway.

The spare tire tank is listed under the ‘18. I didnt look at any of the others, though.

I would never suggest anybody subvert federal emissions regulations, but that spare tire tank is perfectly capable of storing gasoline as safely as diesel

ahh
i would do the spare tire in a heartbeat if i could hook up the transfer system for gas...for offroad use only

The last I saw on the TRX (from the Hellcat Forum I'm on) is the TRX will come with 35" tires from the factory. Attached is a supposed "Spy Pic" of the TRX Stat's from a Ram Meeting.

Thanks for the input. Im thinking the one in the pics I posted is a relatively “unfinished” test mule. I mean yiu know damn well there not gonna have 8 lug in the rear but not up front. And I would have to think the aesthetics will be quite different as well.

We shall see! But its sure nice to know they are actually gonna make the damn thing!

Will it actually make it to production: maybe
Will you actually be able to get one if it's in production: maybe
Will you be able to afford it if dealers won't even sell it unless it's marked up above MSRP: ?

Ram has confirmed the TRX is coming in 2021. My guess is that MSRP is going to be in the $80,000 range. When the Trackhawk came out Jeep/FCA made the mistake of pricing it at $100,000 and they haven't sold well. The TRX is going to have to be damn close to Raptor prices to be successful.

That's very much a test mule. The finished product will have the same lug pattern up front and in the back. While I don't think it's going to be as cool as the concept was a few years back, they are no doubt going to take cues from it to make it successful.

If it's as cool as I hope it is, I could see me trading/selling my 2016 Challenger Hellcat and 2012 Power Wagon for one. I just hope it's not a huge flop.

My salesman told me they will be going to production, and they are probably going to be pushing 100 grand (but what the hell do they really know  ) Thats what got me looking them up on the net, but I cant find much info at all about them.
