Tomorrow- big news for my eyeballs!!!

Post by RAM4ROKS » Thu Jan 15, 2015 11:57 pm

I have worn glasses for 23 or so years now (out of 35) and am pretty sick of them so, tomorrow morning I go under the knife (well, technically under the laser) to get LASIK done. Wish me luck!!!!

I've been wearing glasses for60 years! I have thought about laser surgery but feel that if I don't have my glasses on I might forget to wear safety glasses....not good.

I'm 34 years old and was in the same boat as you wearing glasses every day since I was in 3rd grade. I had it done about 8 years ago and by far it was the best money I've ever spent on myself. I'm still just a pinch better than 20/20 today. In a couple of day's you'll be wondering what took you so long to do it.

Been thinking about getting this done too. I've been wearing glasses since 3rd grade. Be nice not to have to wear glasses again. But my glasses have saved my eyes a few times from impacts. So I'm still up in the air about this.

I'm getting it done this spring with my tax refund. Up until 4 years ago my prescription was still changing every second year but now it is staying the same year after year so I'm good to go! Can't wait to stop dealing with glasses and contacts every day.

Why am I putting this off? I should just get this done already.

What does this cost to do now?

How bad if any did it change the reading vision?

Any stars or halo effect for night vision once done?

I also am a little concerned as I wear my glasses for safety glasses so I neve have had to remember to put them on but once I do this it will be tough to remember to put them on.

Mine was close to 4k if I recall, which included the "custom tune" and astigmatism correction. I did have some weird stuff going on at night for a few weeks. Night driving wasn't fun for a while. All good now through.

Did Ram4Roks ever update his results?

I'm sure he's happy with them!

Sorry for the long delay, been super busy.
Plus side:
no more glasses
20/20 vision
Down side:
still seeing halos at night (significantly less than at first though!!!)
I could be wrong but, I think is is harder to see the "puddle" while welding (just started a fabricating job so....)
right eye, the corneal flap is peeling at the edge (irritating- feels like something is in my eye), they said it will likely heal on its own but, they want to keep an eye on it in case touch up surgery is needed.

Verdict:
still out until the issues are resolved (hopefully they will resolve themselves!)

Funny thing:
I have to wear safety glasses at work 40 hours a week!
