So, I FINALLY found a place with .308 ammo in stock. I called, i ordered. She told me they can no longer ship to NY State after the 15th of this month. After that, it will have to be shipped to a FFL dealer. Who will impose their own fee, just for taking delivery. Like the MOB, you wanna do business, you gotta pay. There is no limit set for the fee either & nothing that says they even have to let you ship to their store if they don't want to. So now, i sadly fear, we here in NY State may see ammo go to 10x what it actually costs, because they now have you over a barrel.

Ship it to a friend in an adjacent state and then buy him lunch when you pick it up. NY is loonier than CA.

Also, a guy i work with observed a police car in his town, at 1:00am, going to each mail box. Curious, he went out and looked at his mail box, and noticed a round blue sticker on each side of it. So, he gets in his car & goes past the police car & stops, gets out & asks the officer why he put a blue sticker on each side of his mail box. He was NOT prepared for what his answer was. "We are putting red stickers on the mail boxes of those with guns (either registered or who have bought hunting licenses), yellow on those that don't, & blue for law enforcement !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He said "it's for OUR safety !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, he immediately asked if he realizes how colossally stupid of an idea that is ? It won't be long before someone (read: criminal) cracks the "sophisticated code" and either targets the home because of either "no guns", "has guns" or is "law enforcement". This is WRONG any way you look at it IMHO. I will be looking further into this.

What if you move to a different location with the wrong color dot on the mailbox?

This is so stupid on every level. Even if as snopes.com claims it only tells the postman you opted out of junk mail, the cable guy you don't have cable, The phone guy you have a land line or the gas company your all electric etc. It seems there are as many reasons/explanations for these dots as there are dots out there. Some crazy ass stuff going on and it is going on in Canada too! I now believe I know at least one reason why so many use PO Boxes and not their real address as there is no mail box at their home.

That is crazy! This world is going to shit. Man that's horrible logic and thinking.

I haven't even heard of that CBC article... I don't think it took off in BC when I was living there.. (I moved away in 2013).
Regardless, Canada Post is stopping door to door delivery so people will end up removing their mailboxes anyhow.

Or....maybe those articles are what made someone else think of this for guns. If caught, there is plausible deniability.

If you have any fired brass. I can reload them for you too. I'm reloading 200, new 308 Lapua brass, with Sierra 175gr Match bullets now. Just got done with 500 rounds of .223 Lapua brass, with Sierra 69gr Match bullets. All brass is trimed to length, outside neck turned, primer pocket uniformed, primer pocket deburred inside, and polished in a tumbler. If you want to use match bullets. I can point the tip, and trim the meplat of the bullet.

Do you need to know head spacing ? I know it is important but have no idea how to measure it nor do i have the tools to do it.

Not really. That's for when you ae trying to get everything out of the rifle. Like neck sizing only, having the bullet touch the rifling in the gun when loaded into the gun, etc. Then the rounds will only work best in that one rifle. For 223 and 308. I'm using Redding Natch Match dies. For everything else, RCBS.

Hey man....Not everybody is stoned here in Colorado (yet). Besides that, stoners are less likely to shoot each other.

The "Sticker/Mailbox thing" Is %100 false, just a hoax. You guys are a little too paranoid. As for the ammo thing, ya that sucks. We can't keep. 223 ammo on the shelves here, I haven't really noticed any real price gouging, which is nice.

.223, .308, 9mm, 22LR, powder, are hard to find here. And prices HAVE gone up.

Prices in So Cal are way up over last year, but supply on some items seems to be improving. Could be because California hunters have stopped hoarding field loads because of the new law banning lead ammo for hunting after 7/1/19. I have stopped buying ammo until I figure out what I'm going to do about hunting. Not a lot of sense practicing with ammo that you can't use on game. Lead has been banned for big game in the condor range for years, so we have to practice and hunt with copper bullets. Have not seen any .308 copper around here for a couple of years. The new law bans lead for everything from squirrels to elk, and for all birds, so we are pretty much screwed. I'll probably have to go out of state for everything except pigs and waterfowl. Stupid bastards in the legislature. And that was the last straw for Jerry Brown. I'll never trust that SOB for anything, ever again.
