Low Life Wastes of Oxygen!

Does it seem to anyone else that we as a human race are going down the wrong road when it comes to respect of others property, morality, pride in oneself, etc. etc.

Today my family and I had to stop at a home store to get a few odds and ends. Walked out and I immediately notice a large scratch on the left rear side of the box on my Power Wagon. As I took a closer look I immediately noticed a dent as well. Now I have to go pay to get it fixed because some waste of oxygen damaged my property (most likely a grocery cart) and took off. I was parked in what I thought was a safe area away from other vehicles. It turned a decent day into a real chitty day.

I thought about asking the store if they had a camera in the area and maybe get a license plate to turn into the authorities. It probably wouldn't be worth my time. I won't bother with insurance since my deductible is $500, I think it will probably cost around $250. There was a day when most (not all) people would own up to their mistakes. I think those days are over. The older I get the less I like the human race in general.

I contacted management at the store and they are going to review their security cameras. I am not holding my breath.......as I am sure the store trains there employees for things like this as they don't want any liability.

This really pissed me off, and the more I think about it the more pissed I get.

I know how you feel. My TrailHawk got egged last night sitting in front of the house. My brother inlaw lives across the road from me. And he has secuity cameras around his house. One of them points at my house. Talked to him today before I left for work. He's going to review his recording and see if the one camera spotted anything. If it did, and we can tell who did it. I'm not going to the police, but handle this my own way.

The manager at the store never called me back after two hours (she said she would call me within the hour when I first called). I called back and she said she would check the security cameras right away. Ten minutes later she calls and says she never saw my vehicle in their cameras during the time frame I stated I was there. I call bullchit, this is a brand new store and their security cameras don't show the parking lot?........as I said bullchit.

I asked her about the stores liability and she said the store wouldn't have any since it was a shopping cart. I replied that I was certain it happened while I was parked at the store, but I am not certain as to how it happened. It may have been a shopping cart, but could have been something else. I am going to call my (local) insurance company on Monday and speak to them, I then will file a claim with their store. They will probably find it on camera then.

Rusty, hopefully you find out who did it. Back in my working the road days my patrol car was vandalized many times. The lack of respect for peoples property just sickens me. Last week we spent a lot of time picking up fireworks off of our property our neighbors (that will never talk to us) shot into our yard. Their 2 acres wasn't big enough I guess. Its a me, me world and most people only think of themselves.

Maybe because of my background I have seen the worst in society, but when things like this happen it disgusts me and give me less faith and hope in society.

When I find out who did. After 30 days. I'm going to have some fun.

Hopefully, the store management will give you something to go on.

You and 2stickly should to get together. He babysits them.

store ARE responsible for shoppping car damage even if they say they are not. My dad had a cart damage his car at safeway, he talked to the manage who said tough luck but he threatened law suit so the just paid to have his car repaired.

I filed a claim today, the manager told me that corporate hq would call me sometime this week. I am expecting the phone call to go on the lines that we appreciate your business, but are not responsible for damage to your vehicle on our property.

I totally understand how you feel, as I have owned semis for the last 35 years I was at a truckstop in northern ca a few years back taking a shower when another driver pulled out of the parkingspot next to me and took the entire Rt fender off my truck. No camera no witnesses just 16,000 dollars and a week off not making money while in the shop. And people wonder why I love dogs more than humans. We have created generations that will never take responsibility for their actions. Sorry for your frustration makes me angry all over again :box:

Dang Wagonlvr, that really sucks. I am familiar with the trucking industry and completely understand that there are bad apples driving trucks and very good people. I do not miss dealing with the bad apples one bit. One almost took my life and served a measly 7 days in jail for it.

Today the "big box store" representative called me and expressed her sympathy, but stated they are not responsible for the damage. No surprise there that is what I expected. I did express my disappointment that they spent millions building that store and don't have security cameras facing the parking area.

The estimates ranged from $800 to $1200 to get the dent/scratch fixed. It would require new paint on the box side. The bodyshop manager at the Dodge dealership directed me to a paintless dent repair place that does good work. I spoke to them and they said they could get at least 90% of the dent, but didn't know about the scratch thinking they could get most of it for $150.00. That is the direction I am going since my deductible is $500 and I don't want to deal with my insurance on this. It's a Power Wagon so it will get scratches, what really pisses me off is the principal and some asswipe damaged my property and was to cowardly to own up to it.

I agree. Total scumbags. I hate to say it, but MANY of the accidents i have witnessed & got plate numbers from, have come back to a totally different vehicle or not valid at all. Many of the "No able' english" crowd are the culprits in our area. Especially on payday Friday. Sure pisses me off. Thats why i want to outfit my truck with cameras all over some day. If nothing else, to just watch the NOT handicapped park in the handicapped spots, hang the tag on the mirror & jump out & run into the store !!!

I know just how you feel! I was looking at the back of my power wagon one day and couldn't figure out why the plastic was sticking up. With a closer look, I saw someone had hit the bumper and pushed to the bedside on the driverside. Probably happened at work but not sure. You would think people you know would let you know. NOT A FLIPPIN WORD!!! Guess I have it in my head its time for workin on a new bumper. I still get mad !!! Thing is if they would have told me I probably would have said its a good reason for a new bumper. I see no respect left out there!

$200 later the dent is removed along with a small ding on the door. Great way to spend my money.

May Karma slap the crap out of the person who damaged my property. :box:

Personally, upon seeing the giant shopping cart scratch, I would have immediately packed my gear and headed to Moab, only stopping for gas and Ice. I would have driven the Kane Creek road until I ended up in an arroyo filled with willows, salt cedar and cottonwoods. Then I would have driven THROUGH the reeds until that tiny scratch was gone, or at least unnoticeable. But that's just me. :D
