Ram Unveils New 1500 ‘Rebel’ Pickup

Post by 04Ram2500Hemi » Tue Jan 13, 2015 4:15 pm

This is interesting, I think...
Doesn't do much for me, but if I was looking for a half ton Ram it might be something different.

The Ford-150 Raptor continues to be in a league all of its own. Rumors of Ram building a performance wagon to challenge the Raptor’s throne were way off the mark, but it did arrive in Detroit with something pretty cool nonetheless. This is the 2015 Ram Rebel 1500, unique in its appearance, looking like none of the other nine trim levels. Out goes the crosshair grille that Ram has used for almost 30 years. In comes a blacked-out grille with Ram stamped right in the middle of it, and a silver off-road skidplate underneath.

Other styling changes include new LED fogs and tow hooks, smoked-out black-bucket headlamps, blacked-out taillamps, twin snorkels on the hood that are purely aesthetic, a tonneau cover with stamped logo, and unique badges. The truck sits on Rebel-exclusive 17-inch wheels wrapped in 33-inch Toyo rubber and housed in fenders from the 2500 Power Wagon, while Ram is spelled out across the tailgate in 5-inch letters. The Rebel comes with specially-tuned Bilstein shocks and uses Ram’s air suspension to raise the ride height by an inch. A softer rear anti-roll bar, reworked jounce bumpers and recalibrated steering and stability control all help to improve the truck’s offroad ability.

Engines choices are limited to the 305-hp 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and 395-hp 5.7-liter Hemi V8, both offered with either 3.55 or 3.92 axle ratios. All variants will come mated to an eight-speed automatic. Inside, there's "technical grain" vinyl seats with Sedodo fabric inserts, Iron Gray Metallic trim, Radar Red accents, unique gauge faces, tread-pattern motifs, a revised center console, an angled holder for smartphones and tablets, and all-weather floor mats. Available in crew cab configuration with a 5’7” bed, the Ram 1500 Rebel will be offered in 4x2 and 4x4 spec. Prices have yet to be announced.

Nice looking truck. Don't care for the huge RAM lettering on the back. Hopefully nobody takes it literally and drives into the back of you.

Interesting, but screams that it is a "me too" truck following the Raptor. Dodge (Ram) is better than this, no need to follow Ford.
2007 Dodge Power Wagon - Inferno Red Quad Cab, G56, KRC 210X cam, SRT8 JGC seats, 35x12.50 Toyo MT's, Offroad lights behind the grill, Warn wireless winch remote, Carli front Diff Guard, Carli Long Travel Air Bags, On board air complete w/ train horns, homemade hidden gooseneck hitch, Homemade locker bypass, upgraded Mopar steering box, Centerforce clutch
1998 Dodge 2500 Laramie, QCSB 4x4. 24V cummins, completely rebuilt chassis with '01 1500 body installed, full gauges, Edge drag comp box, +150hp injectors, performance 47re built by me, 35" Toyo MTs on 3rd gen wheels.
2002 Dodge Ram 1500 ST 4x4 Quad Cab 4.7L Bright Silver, HO Cams, 12,000 lbs Winch mounted behind bumper, 4.56's, 2500 factory tow hooks, 35x12.50 Toyo MT's, Air-Lift Ride Control bags, homemade hidden ball gooseneck hitch.
1987 W100 - carburated 5.7 Hemi/727 combo, 35" Toyo MT's. Ramcharger D44 w/ warn hubs, Warlock seats, 2nd gen center console
1987 Dakota - RCSB, 413 big block, LT headers.
And a few jeeps for good measure.

I like it. Unfortunately, i am sure someone will say "thats a racist truck/name" !!! We had someone at work complain about another employees rebel flag sticker on his truck. The head honcho told him to remove it. He said "no, i have rights & freedom of speech, just like the idiot that complained." It was never pursued any further.

If it had the normal "cross-hairs" grille and they dialed back the size of the tailgate logo, I think it would be a dang good looking truck!!! Not that I would consider trading my 'Wagon for it or anything but, it would be sharp looking!
