Solar Eclipse

Post by ldgregory » Sun May 20, 2012 10:10 pm

Being in Albuquerque, NM, we got the full Monty with the eclipse. Trying to take these pics with an iPhone through those special glasses was interesting to say the least.

It was pretty cool here too - we got the strangest shadows on the west side of the house thru a large elm tree.

So... I have a treat for you guys. I was invited to a friends house in Edgewood, NM, which was in PERFECT alignment to view the annular eclipse yesterday. I had access to several VERY expensive telescopes with H Alpha hydrogen filters, allowing a complete view of the suns chromoshere, where waves of hydrigen explode out riding on pillars of magnetic energy. Very cool indeed. Here is the miney shot.

Very awesome! If you're using the default style which is set to Digital right now, then look at the top right above your message and you'll see the edit button.

Very very cool indeed! I want to do multi prism split imaging on the ring but that will take time to setup as well as spare cash. Besides that I'm unsure how to go about the setup. Either way it would be cool to see all the separate wavelengths generated from those blasts.
