Both of the furnaces in the camper and the Coleman tent trailer are the same type and have a blower fan, and thats the noise that bothers me most, its also the major cause of the battery drain, the ignitor only works for a second or two vs the blower which runs constantly. As far as the catalytic heater is concerned it is silent and odor free. They recomend that you leave a window or vent open a couple of inches when operating so as not to deplete the oxygen supply. I never run the heaters or furnaces when I'm sleeping anyway so that has never been a problem for me. Seeing as a tent trailer is far from being airtight that works for and against you, ventilation is not a problem, but keeping the heat inside is.GunniPWguy wrote:That looks like a nice mod for the Pop up Cruz. It is fairly annoying to have it turning on and off all night. So I assume the battery drain is from the electronic ignitor cycling on every 5-10 minutes on the furnace? How bad is the off gassing of carbon monoxide with those catilytic heaters. I like to know that when i go to sleep there is a good chance I'll wake up in the morning.

Did a little bit of work today. Hauled some dirt today for a bike track my buddy is building on his property. Trailer is 14,000lb gvwr with a 9800lb load capacity. We loaded it up full of damp clay and made ten trips today. It was only a couple miles up the road. The power wagon pulled the trailer pretty awesome. Got to use the lockers once we got to his yard.

Re: Power Wagon Picture Thread
Well since the PW has been at the dealer for the last few days, we had to resort to taking the Chevy Sonic to Southern Utah to go camping. It doesn't flex as well as the wagon, but 44 mpg sure is nice. Ha ha

Re: Power Wagon Picture Thread
When i can't plug into power & want to conserve propane & it is cold out, I have a 1300/1500 watt electric heater that i use. I made sure to get one with a good amount of safety features. If it gets too hot, it shuts down instantly until it cools, if it tips forward, backwards, sideways hardly at all, it shuts off immediately. I use our Honda EU2000i to run it if allowed to do so. It has heated our 30' toyhauler numerous times all by itself, all night long. Works perfect. Absolutely zero fumes. I have a Big Buddy catalytic heater but can't use it. Whatever it gives off just kills me right away. Eyes water & tear, & instant breathing problems. Yes, we have 3 roof vents cracked open & an access door down low cracked open.cruz wrote:Nice Gunni ' . The things that I didn't like about the heater in my Coleman tent trailer was ...GunniPWguy wrote: Camping with a heater is awesome! It got down to 25°F at night.
1- the noise of the fan
2- the constant on & off cycling
3- the drain on the battery
So I installed a wall mount catalytic heater , http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BUV1RK/ref ... B000BUV1RK
now I turn on the furnace and in a few minutes after the trailer is warm I shut it down and switch to the catalytic heater to maintain the warmth, its is nice and quiet with no battery drain.
In my camper I've been using a portable heater , http://cheaperthandirt.net/product/41225
to do the same until I get around to installing one in my camper. The only drawback to the portable one is having to use disposable cylinders instead of the bulk tank.
For refilling your own 1 lb propane cylinders, i can highly recommend one of these: http://www.harborfreight.com/propane-bo ... 45989.html
We have one & it works awesome. You just have to refrigerate the 1 lb bottle for about 20 min, screw it on & invert the 20 lb cylinder. It has saved the day numerous times when cooking while camping.

Finally time to try out my new ( to me ) boat!
It has an indicator that tells you how much time you can run with the current amount of fuel in the tank, and the throttle position. With a full tank(39 gallons) at WOT it says I have 2 hours left! Don't know which burns more gas, the boat or the truck!- GunniPWguy

Contemplating heavily modifying my tow behind pop up camper to slide in/on the back of the PW. Even though it is a high clearance tow behind, it cannot go places the PW can. Can't afford a new truck camper so this is my latest hair brained scheme. It is basically a brand new 2008 camper. My wife is on-board as long as it works. Don't flogg me too hard.
What do y'all think?
