Any Great Options for Replacing the 66RFE?

Post by ramv » Mon Jan 30, 2023 4:37 pm

Doing some research, so far the only one I have found is Monster with a two-year warranty for $8k, seems expensive, and some local places have 3 year/100k mile warranties. Has anyone found a great replacement option that can maybe even handle a little bit more power if I choose to pursue a stroker or S/C at a future point? I would love to do a G56 swap, but given all the involvement that would go into that swap, I think I would be time and money ahead keeping the 66 RFE.

Theirs sounds decent and seems like it would be a bit cheaper than the Next Gen/Monster/TEC ones I've been considering. I really don't need stronger, just longer lasting.... Considering how I treated my 4L85E and never had issue one in 200k miles, I'm really surprised to the 66RFE is giving me problems after basically being treated with kid gloves. My 46RE was worse, but I think I failed it towing without a trans temp gauge (added later,) not enough OEM cooling, no locking T/C in lower gears and just a lot of highway driving with my gutless 5.9L Magnum, 35"s and 4.10s.

Doing a a Tranmission Exchange Center lifetime guarantee trans. Billet triple disc T/C, billet valve body, billet input shaft, bigger pan, high capacity OD drum, etc. now just need to decide between 4.88 and 5.13s
