Fuel tank not accepting fuel.

So about a month ago I was filling up and the pump stopped after only putting in a gallon or less. I ditched pumps, tried multiple times etc. I managed to open the flapper valve with a coat hanger, and it burped fuel out but still would not take more than a little at a time. Also managed to get the hangar stuck down I there. I took it to the shop, and 1500$ later they had replaced the evap and luge canisters and removed the coat hanger. It was fine for one or two fill ups, but now is doing the same thing again. Im pretty kissed at having simply thrown 1500$ worth of parts and labor at, but they told me if that didn’t work they’d need to replace the tank. Anyone have any ideas on this? I don’t really feel like pulling it out myself, nor do I have time, but I can’t really be without a vehicle for another two weeks, and don’t want to spend 50k on a tundra right now as I’m sick of dodge junk.

Strange - wonder if something else is going on in the Filler neck. That sucks only being able to add fuel slowly.

Not sure. I can run a fish tape down there and open the flapper and get one gallon in. At a time. They replaced both carbon canisters. Filter, canister vent hose and purge solenoid. It’s a 2012.

When I bought my 2012 it had 19K miles on it and came from a dealership. I had the same issue when I left the dealer to fill up, so I went back. Their mechanic looked at it and said a vent hose on the gas tank was kinked. He straightened it out, and then it would take fuel. I didn't see exactly how he did it, but I think he just crawled under the truck and fixed the kink in the tube. I would have to look at my rig to see where the tube is, but I have not had a problem since. That was in 2017.

Interesting thanks for the reply. I would hope after 1.5 hours of labor to diagnose they would check that but who knows. I’ll crawl up u def and see what I can see. Not really sure how that would happen on its own

I have a 2014 half ton that was doing the same, I tried to find the end of the vent hose and couldn't, it's up on top of the diff somewhere, took it to the dealer, they re routed the vent line under the hood, don't remember the cost, but it hasn't given any grief since. The end of the hose gets built up with dirt/gravel/ice etc and plugs off.

I believe this is what they installed under the hood.

Occasionally my 2008 will repeatedly kick off the gas pump. I've found when that happens I can overcome it by holding the fill nozzle in the 3 o'clock position. This has happened before and after I replaced my fuel tank, which had a cracked plastic fitting on top. The only part of the system I haven't replaced is the charcoal canister.

I had the same issue on my 2012
A mechanic replaced a $40 valve,worked for 2 fillups afterwards
It ended up being a kinked E-Vap hose going from the tank to the canister
