Rear drive shaft replacement?

Post by Easttnrhino » Sat Sep 26, 2020 7:26 pm

I have a stock 2017 PW, and would like to have either a steel rear drive shaft or a thicker walled aluminum ( local shop said that is my only option). Who is the go to on driveshafts and what have some of you all done? I have emailed Tom woods. Thanks
Enjoying beautiful east TN

the large diam aluminum driveshafts have alot of bending and torsion strength but almost no impact resistance. if your wanting to use a more impact resitant shaft so you can crash it on boulders, youll likely just break the tailshaft off the tcase

I''ve been looking at these. What size did you go with and does it clear the rearward most crossmember?

If I remember correctly I went with the 1480 u joints. I had to notch my rear crossmember for extra droop travel when I did the bypasses and upper shock mounts out back, so it just clears. Stock travel might fit without trimming but I don’t know for sure
