While at a State Park campgrounds in Cooperstown NY recently, our site was the first one, so we got to watch them all come & go & I was amazed at how many old stick shift trucks there were pulling campers. Dodge, Ford & Chevy. Good to see them working like they are supposed to !

On a side note: On the way home from said campgrounds, we took Rt 20 for a long ways. I got behind a Ford with the V-10, pulling an empty aluminum horse trailer. I passed him on a long steep 2-lane hill. His was a manual as well. He looked amazed as I whipped by him. I was in 4th gear when I passed him, then it got steeper, dropped it down into 3rd & held it @ 55 mph & 5500 rpm's. I could see him downshift as I went by him. But before he disappeared in my rear view mirror, I saw a bunch of smoke coming out from the hood & he pulled over. The temp on my truck went higher than it ever has, but it was still fine. It runs empty or loaded the width of the needle under the half way mark but went up to 1 width of the needle above the half way mark. I think people would still buy the stick shifts, but they certainly are not for everyone. People have gotten lazier, auto trans's have gotten a little better but many have just gotten used to the diesels making up for the lack of proper trans gear ratio's when they need a truck to really work.

I wish they broke it down for Power Wagons as well for the 3rd Gen's. Those stats are for all 2500's-including Power Wagons.

Also, Power Wagon option was 26P, & $6335. It has now changed to a different option # designation & is around $7200+.

Is there any good wheeling or fun stuff to do around Houston? I have been there dozens of times (probably closer to a 100) but only for work. My company wants me to move to the Woodlands/Spring area.

The immediate area doesn’t have a lot of places to wheel, but if you’re willing to drive a bit there are some fantastic places. Texas has everything from seashore to mountain, rockcrawling to desert running. If you do make the move hit me up. Me and rodeoflyer have been meaning to get a Texas GTG going
