Hi there, considering parting out a Power Wagon

Post by WombatRanger » Wed Feb 02, 2022 6:47 pm

Good afternoon all, I came here to ask some opinions on this idea because I don't know whether these things are actually collectible or not. I like Dodge trucks, I have had many and currently have 2 that I use for daily use & work, plus a 2006 Power Wagon I recently picked up.

I have always dreamed of having a Regular Cab G56 equipped Power Wagon. I always told myself if I came across one for sale, I would try to buy it. I have never seen one. I have seen 1 Regular Cab Power Wagon in the wild and I was just passing by, didn't get to look at it up close. I have seen 2 or 3 QCSB G56 trucks come up for sale, and they weren't cheap. Power Wagons never are.

My personal pickup is a 2007 RCLB Ram 2500 ST 5.7 G56 4x4. It is the most base model pickup I have ever seen newer than '94, I think it has no options except A/C and Cruise control. I like to have a pickup like this around for homestead chores, firewood, hunting etc, as well as use for work when I don't need my bigger Dodge. I just rolled over 70k miles on it Monday night.

I just picked up this 06 Power Wagon. I am told it has 180k miles, the engine was run out of oil and is no good, but otherwise was a runner/driver until then. The seller took his wheels and put some 01ish Dodge 16's on loosely for it to sit on. Backwards so they don't hit the calipers. Truck is a 5.7/auto. The winch & bracket is gone, as well as the "G-O-N" lettering on driver side door, otherwise it appears to all be there.

My plan would be to take the PW specific parts and put them on to my '07. Build the PW I want but better. No computer crap telling me when I can and can't use the lockers, sway bar disconnect, etc. Hand crank windows, manual locks, & rubber floors.

Further plan would involve upgrading my 2009 Ram 4500 SLT interior to the Laramie stuff from the PW. Here's a pic of that truck when I brought home the PW last week.

Any nay sayers? Is this thing worth too much to do all that with?

Following up, did you end up parting this PW out?

I sent you a PM. Interested in parts maybe.
