Just about any road off of Hwy 108 past Strawberry . Stop by the USFS Ranger office and get one of their maps, they are very detailed and will show all the fire roads. That's the beauty of the Sierras, so many places to explore. To get you started ...

Here's a pic from route 3N30 off of Hwy.108. We made it 4-5 miles down the road until the brush started crowding the trail and turned around. Just couldn't bring myself to scratching up my brand new truck.

I have been lurking for some time here, just studying about the amazing truck in my driveway. We bought our truck last fall completely by accident. We were looking for a truck to pull our boat out and into the water about 5 times per year or so and went to RAM just looking. Well we fell in love with the big red truck sitting there in the dealer lot and weren't leaving without it. I think we got lucky with it, as I did not even know about power wagons at the time and it is super capable at moving the boat around. Pulled 12,500 lb out of the muddy ram in 2WD! It totally ate up the massive 6" of snow we got here in MD- no more excuses for not getting to work on time LOL. Now 99.9% of the time, all that capability is simply wasted conquering suburbia, however, we have found that it is really good at doing a couple of things. The power wagon is great for making little kids stop and stare, and it makes a great resting spot for whisky. I'm sure we will use it for other, more worthy purposes, but right now it is a badass truck for fun.

I'm new to the forum. I traded my 2011 Ram 1500 Laramie for a 2015 SLT PW. I am supposed to be picking it up tomorrow. Its white graphic's delete. I have been stalking the dealer for the last couple of days, the waiting is killing me. Anyway, glad to be here with people that have the same opinion of what a truck should be.

New Canadian pw owner!

Post by ggbull » Tue May 12, 2015 9:40 pm

Hello all. Last December I finally purchased my dream truck. 2012 Powerwagon Laramie. I traded my 2013 ram 1500 in red deer for it. Would be interesting to see if the previous owner was a member of this great forum. I'm located in SK.
Cheers!!

Hello All..!
I just traded my 08 RAM 2500 HD 6.7L Diesel for a Brand new 2015 PW..! I was holding out hope that they would offer a Diesel one day... But after 10 years of waiting... :wtf:
I decided it was Time. The market and price for my 08 was ripe, and since it was a clean one owner. I sold her and Bought my PW. I am super excited to become part of the PW family. I am an avid off roader and back country explorer. I live in Utah, so I make the trek to Moab at least twice a year. I do have a built 99 WJ for extreme trails, I.E. Behind the Rocks, Pritchet Canyon, and Area BFE for those of you who are familiar with Moab. I really look forward to armoring up the PW and getting her out on the trails. I wheel at least weekly as much as possible. So for any of you who live along the Wasatch front..? Hit me up for wheeling anytime.
I did put 35's on it the day I got it. The next Mod will be Custom Sliders so I can hit the more aggressive trails for these big brutes. 8-)

Awesome Site..!
Thanks, Mike D.

Hello Everyone..! Just Purchased a New PW. I have wanted one of these trucks since there reintroduction in 2005. I was holding out for a diesel option..! Obviously in vein. I purchased a New Ram in 2008, the 2500 HD 6.7L Cummins. I drove it for the past 7 years to 117211 with absolutely zero issues..! I was going to build my on version or PW knock off... But I really love the look of this latest version. And I am a sucker for the Quad Coil suspension on this current model. So the market and time was right to sell my 08 and purchase the '15. It will take some getting used to the lack in economy and power as my '08 was chipped, piped, and cold air intake had her blazing through the 1/4 at 13.88 :D Honestly though, wheeling is more important than the speed. This new 6.4 seems to be rather stout..? And I imagine there will be some fancy mods to push her near 500HP 8-)

I look forward to getting to know all of you and become part of the small PW family. This truck is absolutely AWESOME..! And I am super excited to hit the dirt. I live in Utah, so Moab is a place I frequent. I try to get down at least twice a year. I am an avid Wheeler and back country explorer. I have a built WJ for the more extreme trails in this neck of the woods. I do however look forward to running this beast in Moab this fall..! Anyway Great Site..!

Thanks, Mike D.

2016 PW on order...

Post by black_hawk8888 » Fri May 29, 2015 6:32 pm

Hi guys - been lurking here for nearly two years and finally pulled the trigger on ordering a new PW. Made a deposit and ordered a 2015 but they are telling me we missed the deadline on the 2015s so my truck will be a 2016 (at the price they promised me). Maybe I'll be the first 2016 PW on the registry? Anyhow, they are telling me that there were/are no major changes for 2016. Possibly front bumper sensors and LED lighting for the bed. Maybe a bump in the ratings for the 6.4 but nothing certain yet. Sold my 2008 Tacoma 4x4 TRD to get a real truck...

Should be built by late July so I'm trying to settle in for the long wait - looking at all your trucks helps

Ordered a True Blue SLT with graphics, comfort group, luxury group, subwoofer/speakers, 8.4 uconnect, dual alternators, premium seat, backup cameras, alarm, power towing mirrors, adjustable pedals, and remote start. Once it gets here, I will get Line X for the bed, add some power steps (until sliders are available) and husky liner mats and drive it for a while. Tempted to throw 315/70r17s on right away so I don't get used to the power/economy of the 33s but I get conflicting reports on rubbing for the 2014+ PWs with 315s...any input is welcomed. Thanks for running a great site for a great truck!

they don't rub at all on stock wheels ask jbm. His radius arm p.wagon moves down the trail very nice comfortable rig.

Well, slight correction. They do rub the radius arm bolts when turning at full lock, but nowhere else. You just have to watch when you are doing very tight turns. For me the slight rub is totally worth the added off road performance of the 315/70/17 tires! If you do put in the larger tires just make sure they don't rub too often at full lock when turning (you can wear a groove in your tires) and you will be a-ok.

Thanks for the detailed info! Do you have the 315 duratracs? What kind of mpg loss did you experience? I see in other threads that you tow pretty well with the 315s so the power must not be an issue...

I have Kelly Safari TSR tires, which are made by Goodyear, quite similar to the Duratracs. I had them on my 2011 PW and when I traded that one in on my 2014 I had them swap the tires right over. So, I can't really compare to how the truck drove with the stock tires vs the bigger tires.

I can compare to my 2011 PW though. On my 2011 I had the larger tires, Bully Dog tuner (set at 91 performance tune), Airaid CAI and Magnaflow muffler and y-pipe. My 2014 (with no power mods) feels like it has just as much power as my 2011 did with all the mods in regular driving. But, my 2014 feels like it has more power when towing, probably due to the better torque curve.

As for fuel economy, I get better highway mileage on my 14 but got better city mileage on my 11. Towing the 14 gets better mileage. When I see what others are posting/getting for mileage on their 14's with factory tires mine seems very close.

Hope that helps!

Bam! 315's are totally bad ass offroad. When aired down they really hook in loose stuff and make climbing a breeze. "When aired down" is key there. 35" let's you retain some ground clearance even when aired down to 20lbs.

Graveltravels: those look like the original BFG mud terrains before they switched over to the KM2 tire. I'm assuming they still sell the old version in Canada? You are running 315/70r17 on stock rims with no rubbing even on the control arm bolts? I get so many conflicting reports of what rubs and what doesn't that it must be pretty close.

That white laramie is pretty sweet. I wish the SLTs came with monotone paint like that...
