Simple question. Mud flaps or not? I got a new leftover 2024 Tradesman with Power Wagon package. It’s black so I’m debating on mud flaps or not.

If you do serious off roading, I vote NO TO MUD FLAPS, because they'll get ripped off on the first major obstacle. Even if you don't do off roading, if the mud flaps are too long and you back up into a pile of snow or mud, that could push the mud flap up against the tire rotating backwards and rip it off.

If you just do street/highway driving, YES TO MUD FLAPS.

I had mud flaps from day one on my 08 PW. Did Moab, Rausch Creek and Hot Springs with them on. Never had one get ripped off. I used a flexible material. I have Weathertech on my Gladiator. I've done the same trails as the PW. Never had get ripped off either, but they do show signs of the trail.

You're lucky becuase I have watched them get ripped off on other peoples trucks at Power Wagons in Moab.

But I also got all my dents from trees in Idaho where there is no rock crawling and some how not in moab. Draw of the luck.

I'd vote no though, becuase I think there is a greater risk of them getting torn off if you do offroading and DO NOT have clearance. I think the risk is higher when you are on smaller tires.

I had them on my Ranger, when the rears ripped off they damaged the body. When I built the flat bed for my second gen I built some removable mudflaps to go on Ultimate Adventure 2004 since there was a lot of states that required something (especially since my "fenders" basically ended at the axle. I ended leaving them behind on the trailer when the tow rig blew up and never really used them. I was only harassed in northern Minnesota and even then it was basically the police wanting to take a look at the truck. They basically said if you don't track mud on the road we don't care. (we were rock crawling so no mud to track.)

I haven't ran them on tow rigs or wheelers since.

Inly if they are required by law or you notice issues.

I did not install mud flaps on my 2014. The rocks, gravel, and salt did some serious paint damage to the lower rockers and also peeled off the line-x on the front of my WK sliders.

I installed the rubber OEM RAM mud flaps on my new 2024. No real off roading yet, so TBD effectiveness. So far, they’ve kept my truck cleaner and my new WK sliders aren’t beat up, yet.
