Is this place still alive?

If it's about Power Wagons, all generations, this is where it'll go. This is the original PWR Forum Power Wagon Technical Discussion Section. And this includes everything that doesn’t fit in any one of the other categories related to the truck goes here!

  IMHO Repeated natural cycles outweigh repeated “words” of self appointed “experts” selling agendas. When words & actions don’t align I never trust the words,,,have found the age old adage “actions speak louder than words” true in most instances. Natural cycles don’t seem to occur because of man made agendas,,,hmmm causes me to wonder…

Coasted into the turnout, found the prop shaft under my trailer... couple of fragged parts on the highway, picked that shit up and tossed it in the bed

Trailer loaded pretty heavy (2 sleds, fuel, propane, gear, gen, tools, etc) for a week+ of training. Shitty roads meant more than usual 4wd use.

we'll see what the estimate comes out to... really don't want to (or have the time to) go truck shopping this month. But for pulling shit around across the country like this, a 1-ton (or even 3/4-ton) diesel would be a much more appropriate vehicle.

 3X!!!

I suspect the flinging drive shafts did some significant damage to brake & fuel lines, wire harnesses or more.
Got lucky there - didn't cut into brakes or fuel lines. Shop was able to pop the trans into gear and drive the truck onto the trailer, so there's hope that the transmission isn't smoked too. Don't know about sensors and wiring harnesses yet, but I"m not terribly worried about those. Cost to fix that is pretty low compared to the rest of it.
Prop shaft did smack the side of the trans pretty hard, enough to bend the tab the column shifter attaches to. Yet to tell if it hit hard enough to damage any internals.

With the cold recently, the shop hasn't had a lot of time to get my pickup in and look at it, clean things up, and really tally up the damage. T-case, prop shaft, double cardan joint, couple other bits and pieces here and there.

Got a shop truck for the time being... it's baaaaaaaaaaarely enough to haul my trailer.
Was going to be on the road for about a month straight. Hauling my trailer home with the shop truck after the incident, I realized that pickup isn't fit for hauling my trailer cross-country for a month, so I backed out of one project in MT and dumped my trailer at home after the last 4-day training cycle.
Image

Bunk bed in the trailer was a nice improvement from a folding cot I'd used previously. Built a frame for an old cot out of 1/2" black pipe, threaded that together and built some weldments to mount to the wall and hinge the bed up to the ceiling. Shoves the sleeping bag/pillow/etc into the corner when I don't need it. High enough I can still use it with a sled parked underneath, and it gets me up higher in the trailer where it's warmer.
Image

Snow wasn't bad, set up nicely by saturday. High avalanche danger made for some good talking points, snowpack evaluation, and decisionmaking/route-planning exercises.
Image

not a bad office view
Image

Wish I had my trailer, but I can make do with just the sled in the bed of the pickup. Back in the oilfield for 6 days, then I head northeast for 4 days on snowcats before heading home for a few days.
