My truck is quickly approaching 200k miles and I've been debating how to move forward once I need a new engine. I've got plans to add the passenger side battery tray along moving my intake (I've got plans for that as well) however I'm looking into purchasing a 6.4L Hemi from 4500/5500 as they're more suited for trucks than running a car 392. I'm wanting to either find an engine with dual alternators or add a second one. Has anyone done this on their 3rd gen? Just looking for advice or tips.

Ooh, interesting. I'm kinda laying plans for that direction as well but I've got a 2010 with 150k. The truck motor definitely sounds a better way to go too. Do they have MDS or no?

All the trucks use the BGE version of the 6.4 and not the Apache 6.4 ("392") found in SRT cars and Jeeps. The only difference on the 4500/5500 BGE is they have a lower redline that lowers the horspower, and typically much lower axle gears.
The BGE has oil sprayers on the pistons, a different alloy for the block (same as the Hellcat, all the 6.4s went to this block in 2018) and a higher grade of aluminum for the heads. They also have the truck intake manifold, lower compression, and exhaust manifold instead of the short tube cast headers.
From a power perspective, depending on year, the cars/Jeeps were 475-485hp and 475 ft-lb of torque. Trucks are 410 hp/429 ft-lb, the 4500/5500 are 370 hp and 429 ft-lb.

The 4500/5500 engines are different than the 2500/3500 engines. Do some research. 45/55 come with stainless exhaust manifolds, sodium filled exhaust valves and a different cam profile. I'm aware they use the BGE block as well as the truck heads are what they call "big gas" heads. They're similar engines but not identical. The reason behind wanting to go with the 45/55 engine is for power/ longevity. I have intentions of changing the cam, as well as running long tube headers and I'll likely stud the engine as well. I'm going for a decent power upgrade but mostly longevity.

I had the 5.7 in my 2006 rebuilt after a hydrolock. I was going to put in a 6.1 SRT, but the engine management wouldn't work without lots of additional funds and work, so I bagged it. Looking forward to your build thread.

Thanks Ace, I'm looking forward to what it will come out like. I'm wanting to tune it for torque and not as much HP so hopefully I'll come out around 450whp and 500tq
Got my passenger battery tray on the mail, now I've got to decide what to do for a temporary intake until I get my SRT10 hood. I also plan to fan a functional air box that will utilize the scoop.
