Next Big Update?

If it's about Power Wagons, all generations, this is where it'll go. This is the original PWR Forum Power Wagon Technical Discussion Section. And this includes everything that doesn’t fit in any one of the other categories related to the truck goes here!

Next Big Update?

Post by FordyceCreekTrail » Sun Feb 28, 2021 8:20 pm

What do you think will happen with the next big Power Wagon update and when? At my mileage rate I will be ready in a few years! My wish list;

1. Front Locker that works with out mods
2. Sway Bar Disconnect that works (make it water proof)
3. Shock Upgrade
4. 35s
5. Standard sliders
6. Complete Skids
7. Cut down some weight if possible
8. Slightly increased MPG
9. Slight bump in towing (why not it easily tows way more safely anyways)
10. BIG bump in power, way out classed now. The biggy I am looking for.
11. Bed Outlets, still not seeing those which is a nightmare for camping
12. Standard wireless remote
13. Off road Map capability like new Bronco
14. AWD or 4 Auto mode
15. Tires that hold air

Things already added since my 2018 model already that I wanted;

1. Synthetic line
2. 360 Cameras
3. New Interior
4. Dampened tail gate (lord have mercy)
5. Better transmission
6. Bed step (another about time)
2018 Flame Red, Moon Roof, Dual Alternators, Ram Boxes sadly Ram ran out of, Luxo Package with 8.4 UConnect, Enter and Go with remote start, Auto Wipers and Lights. Added missing skids and White Knuckle sliders. 35" BFG KM3s. Procal and Warn wireless remote for winch.

Mine works fine.

2. Sway Bar Disconnect that works (make it water proof)
I’ve got no issues with mine, but I don’t take my truck swimming.

3. Shock Upgrade
Possibly, wouldn’t require a major redesign either. Mopar offers nice fox shocks on wrangler trims and nice bilstein shocks on the trx.

4. 35s
Possibly, now that the Tremor comes with 35s. But, if not, it’s Easy enough to swap on 35s.

5. Standard sliders
Available on 75AE, probably will be option next year.

6. Complete Skids
Ok so just one more for the oil pan and trans? Dethlofff one is good aftermarket option.

7. Cut down some weight if possible
Not likely.

8. Slightly increased MPG
Maybe with a new engine, but I don’t see that coming any time soon. I think if anything we will see an eTorque 6.4, but that probably won’t have much positive effect of mpg.

9. Slight bump in towing (why not it easily tows way more safely anyways)
Not likely. Towing is limited by GVWR, GVWR is limited by the suspension, you either get offroad suspension or stiffer suspension for towing more.

10. BIG bump in power, way out classed now. The biggy I am looking for.
See #8, that would add low end grunt. But also outclassed by why what? The Ford 7.3 makes good torque and power but it’s also nearly a liter bigger.

11. Bed Outlets, still not seeing those which is a nightmare for camping
Available on the 2021s

12. Standard wireless remote
Remote plug is easy to access on the 2019+. No need. Wired remote works fine, more reliable.

13. Off road Map capability like new Bronco
Gimmick. Not happening. Apple CarPlay + Gaia works great.

14. AWD or 4 Auto mode
Not happening unless the rest of the HD range gets it, which is unlikely any time soon. I’ve heard bad things about the 4A system in the 1500s... it’s a clutch based system and offroad it overheats easily and reverts to 2WD.

15. Tires that hold air
What?

Duracraps hold air fine unless you leave pavement. And why would someone with a powerwagon want to do that?
2018 White Rambox, Diamondback HD bed cover, White Knuckle sliders, Carli and Purple Cranium diff guards, masterpull 11mm superline, 37 Toyo MT.

Didn’t know that was an issue. I installed 35s 48 hours after of taking delivery so never had an opportunity to find out
