Battery time

Post by Bill2014 » Sun Jan 24, 2021 7:58 pm

The OEM original battery just barely turned over and started the truck this morning at 5 below zero. The 7 year old battery never failed me, but I'm not going to push my luck any longer. I've only used the inexpensive Walmart Everstart in everything I own and always get 6 to 10 years out of them.

I'll be honest, I usually like to upgrade the battery but my stock battery in my 2018 wagon is still going strong after 3 years and 50k miles.

In the Las Vegas desert I usually only get 2 years out of batteries.

When it fails, I'm going to replace it with the exact same battery.

These stock batteries are amazing. Other vehicles I have had barely got 1.5-2 years out of the shitty stock batteries.
2018 Flame Red, Moon Roof, Dual Alternators, Ram Boxes sadly Ram ran out of, Luxo Package with 8.4 UConnect, Enter and Go with remote start, Auto Wipers and Lights. Added missing skids and White Knuckle sliders. 35" BFG KM3s. Procal and Warn wireless remote for winch.

Yeah - I'm keeping the Stock Mopar battery in my garage for now - it never failed to start the truck!

Don’t let it set directly on concrete, put it on some wood sleepers or will sap any battery PDQ, learned the hard way ☹️

I just set the old battery there to take the picture for posting... I keep it on a sheet of plywood although I don't think that is required anymore.

Modern batteries are allegedly no longer susceptible to "moisture damage"...
See this nice article addressing this issue.

On my 2005 Nissan Titan it leaked and melted everything on the fender well, dissolved the positive battery connector and left me stranded at a concert at 2:00AM. Truck was less then 2 years old I believe. Toyotas go fast as well.
