OE part online sources

Post by FJ40runr » Wed Aug 26, 2020 11:06 pm

Hello,

First, apologies for probably not finding the right thread for this info. I've recently purchased a 2012 ex-BLM truck, really looking forward to Power Wagon ownership after years of being (very old) LandCruisers only. The bed and many other things are going to be badass.

Having previously dealt with old and non-US cruisers, I'm used to digging around for the best OE parts sources. There are many, but one that stands out as a favorite is partsouq for the ability to look up very specific packages / builds and see what exactly is available. An example of what can be found:

This for a truck that came from Kuwait, built 30 years ago. Having dealt with the challenges of sourcing parts for a truck like that I was looking forward to how easy it would be to find stuff for my new(ish) domestic truck. That said, when googling for OEM parts, I find a lot of similar sites that don't really provide much for part description.

My current interests are really simple having just purchased a pretty clean truck...I don't like the chrome grill and bumpers and want to swap to the black plastic and flat black painted or powdercoated parts. I've yet to figure out how to find them!

Is there a good source for finding parts online, or am I better served to go to a dealer parts counter for this?

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum.

One of the first things that you normally can't find is the winch mounts. Those become hens teeth quickly. The factory for the most part stocks items for about 8 to 10 years. Smartbars list for around $2,700. Mine went bad on my 08 and the factory no longer had it in stock. So I had to dig around for it. The smartbar, lockers winch, and mounts are PW items only. Most everything else can be replaced with standard 2500 parts.
