Missing Spare Tire

Post by FLtoCOTransplant » Tue May 12, 2020 4:34 pm

Has anyone ever had their spare tire disappear? The attachment link is not down like someone stole it. And it is up high where you would expect it to have enough pressure on the spare that it wouldn’t bounce off...seems strange! Any ideas other than a considerate thief?Image

Thief lives/works near you. Put it back up so you couldn't tell where it happened. How did you happen to know it was even missing? They sit up sort of high.

Likely explanation. Noticed it when I went to attach my bike rack. Truck is kept in a garage at home and in a parking garage during the day. I always back in so the bumper is almost touching, it must have been a pain to lower.

Stolen or wasn't stowed properly. Not fool proof, but at least a deterrent, MOPAR makes a spare tire lock kit.

I have the lock kit. Not hard to install. It's in my build thread.

Well, if you were in Albuquerque I’d give you one, but it’s probably not worth shipping to CO.

I ordered the Mopar lock kit because of this thread. I hate thieves, and feel for you, OP.

Nope not worth driving to Albuquerque but thanks for the offer! And thanks for the heads up on the lock. Ordering one tonight.

Planning on just ordering a cheap steel OEM rim from Hubcap Haven.
