Sliders and active tune mass module

Installed the wk sliders on a 19 pw but between 1000 and 1500 rpm the active tune module gos crazy vibrating so bad you can feel it in your back. I unplugged them but now I get an error every time I drive the truck. Is there a fix to either make the error notification go away or stop them from vibrating at low rpm?

I'd guess the sliders themselves are resonating and amplifying that vibration due to the fact that they are mounted to the frame and stick out a few feet from that mounting point. Maybe you can get the dealer to shut the AMMs off.

The AMMs are the reason I haven't put them on my 19 yet.

Mine are sitting in the garage waiting to be installed when I have a free moment. Anyone else having this issue? Do you notice any difference when you are driving the truck now that you have unplugged them? Thanks!

I dont notice any difference with them unplugged but i do get an error message on the dash everytime I drive.

This should be interesting. The system has to be tuned to the unmodified chassis/frame. By altering with the sliders, harmonic frequencies will be different.

Did you have to move the DS module?

No the sliders mount behind them on the frame.

After several days with the sliders installed I have found the same response from the AMMs, especially while braking. It hasn’t bothered me enough to unplug them...yet

Is it safe to assume my 2018 does not have the active tune module?

I believe they were added in 19. You can just crawl under the truck and look to be sure. They are pretty much located on the outside of the frame under the front seats. Look like a plastic quart can with a wiring harness.

You can google a pic.

Looking at these for my 19 PW. What's the latest FLtoCOTransplant and xtrememachines? Is the vibration minor/livable, did you find a way to re-tune the active tune, or at least unplug without constant error messages?

I live with it and frankly barely notice it anymore. I have not disabled/tuned the AMM. I would compare the feel to rough asphalt. Overall no complaints since the install and would do it again.

Fiat should have fixed the vibration problem at the source instead of adding electric weights to our heavy pigs. Design the problem away!!!

The electronic dampers solve a problem that is impossible to solve with a rigid structure. There is no way to solve it at the ‘source’ because you always have varying inputs from different tire and road oscillations. This is next generation technology that fills a new role. This is the noise cancelling headphones tech on large scale.

That’s not what was taught in graduate school... We’d run our designs through FE and structural analysis to find resonant frequencies and then add weight or stiffen the structures to shift the harmonics out of the operating range. Or we’d come up with a different design... :D

They (Fiat Chrysler) are fixing an engineering design flaw - it’s as simple as that.

It is pretty much impossible to determine what combination of vibrations will enter a chassis, and where and in what order. You can get very close with FE, but never achieve perfection. They were damn close back in 2003. They’re killing off the variables in 2019.

I had this discussion with a buddy, as to why they don’t use bolted construction throughout the vehicle to make service easier. Because you’d never buy a vehicle that cost that much. You can pay $800 for a set of smart dampers or you can pay $3,000 for a better frame.

The MDS is much more active in the 19 trucks with the 8 speed than my 16-6 speed, and at lower RPMs in lower gears. I'm pretty sure that's the reason for the ATMMs in the first place.

I don't have the ATMMs on my 2014 laramie...
Took it for a long road trip yesterday, and it is smooth as glass inside the cab. I can hear an exhaust tone difference with or without the MDS but absolutely can't feel a thing. I doubt that adding my White Knuckle Sliders completely eliminated any vibration that was there, but you never know. :D

Not sure what Fiat Chrysler did to the newest trucks to introduce vibration that needs to be actively dampened...
Any of you guys with the newest trucks - get bad vibration when you unplug the modules? I'm just curious how bad the vibration or sound is without the active abatement.

Did you guys that are experiencing this vibration get the sliders with the .120 or .188 wall tubes? Step plates? Different variables could yield different experiences...
I'm planning to order a set for my 2019 shortly, I just hope this issue isn't too much of an annoyance

It is annoying. I unplugged the modules but after a month of constant error messages I plugged them back in. For some reason they dont vibrate as much any more and it is tolerable. So try that and see how it works.

I just installed my WKOR Sliders(0.188” thick tubes, extended width 2x4” main rails, no top plates) on my 2019 PW. I put about 30 miles mixed driving (Highway and some city) and so far I haven’t experienced any of the “crazy vibrations” others in this thread have had. My truck is stock other than 315/70R17 (35”x12.50) tires.
