Here it is!

Post by benking » Mon Apr 22, 2019 2:11 pm

Welp, here’s the new rig!! It is at the dealer in Maine and I am in Tampa so I can’t answer too many questions about it until Thursday when I pick it up. Apparently I will be spooling the winch line onto the drum myself! Feast your eyes!

You assume correctly, pdavey, and I dare say that I like the looks of this grille better than the other. But I realize that I now have a slight bias and I’m cool with that.

If it comes with the winch line on the winch it isn’t tensioned. So you end up having to spool it all out and tension it prior to use.

Although, its possible they do something different now that they are using synthetic rope. However, probably not!

Good looking truck, enjoy it! They come from the factory with the end of the winch line rubber banded or zip tied to the drum. The winch hook and controller are in a storage bin under the back seat or in the rear floorboard. Some dealers put the hook on for you, some don’t. The ones that do aren’t tensioning the winch line and I wouldn’t trust their work if they did.

The new winch cable is synthetic so you won't have as much work to do.

for my 18, the steel cable came pre tensioned and rubber banded to the drum. the Hook was not on and the controller was not in the truck.
dealer removed these items so other people weren't tempted to remove them, so they say, but they also forgot to pass them along to me. lol

i believe i read previously that the new synthetic line comes packaged and must be spooled on....no way in hell i would let a tech touch my new synthetic factory rope. Luckily, sounds like they dont require this for warranty purposes.

Nice looking truck.

That's an odd transition between the grill and hood though. Makes it look like someone pulled the hood release. :P

Honestly, I'd ditch the chrome, whether it be plasti-dip, or powder coat, spray paint, or replace, etc.... The bumpers look out of character to me. My opinion...

if your happy then theres nothing to be said. me personally would get rid of the chrome in a hurry but thats just me. i like the stock wheels except for the bare machined part. in full black the stock wheels are badass imo
