2nd Battery -- Gen 4.5

So, think I am going to pull the new one out of my second gen. I know how I want to wire it. But where to mount it? Under the hood seems tight and I don't think there is enough room in front of the rad.
I am thinking there may be room outboard of the frame under the back of the bed. Anyone do amount there? It's AGM so no issue on how I mount it.
Anyone do anything cool for a second battery? Obviously two alternators is helpful but big motors in -40 like some battery and 400 amps on the M15 is easier to supply in bursts with battery.

Ducky has a second battery under the bed, mounted to the frame rail I believe.

Yeah, third gen. I don't think that mount would work on mine. I believe I will need to mount on the side but load directly from the bottom. (Or upside down but top load with side mount.

Mine is in the bed. It's an OK solution but there is a lot of extra cable I'd like to get rid of if I can find another place. The charge relay is absolutely perfect. I've gone back and forth with Damage Wagon about building an intake so I can install a Cummins 2nd battery tray but nothing has come from it. A Vararam would be perfect but they don't make it for the 6.4. The battery on the outside of the frame rails would look terrible. We even talked about making new under floor storage bins but that seems like a lot of weight to hang in that location.

Yeah, I was considering bed, but its not exactly what I want. I already have 2 gauge on the drivers side to the bumper for the rear winch, so wiring is in place. I don't think it would be visible under the bed? my air compressor and such aren't at the front.
This might work. Need to do some measuring. Would prefer rotating 90 degrees.

A full pull from an M15k would require 3/0 minimum to reach the bed. I ran 3/0 to the bed but the winch is on the chassis battery.

Outside the right frame rail under the rear passenger seat fits nicely for a 105Ah/950CCA AGM-VRLA on my 2017.

That is basically how I did it too, exept this guy has an Optima laying on the side and I went with a regular AGM-VRLA as I think the Optimas are just hyped, also they did not do well for me in the past and other batteries use the same Absorbant Glass Mat technology.

First two from the front, last one from rear
The power steps fit nicely, sliders should probably be fine as well depending on where the mount to the frame is

Do you have a picture direct from the side of the truck? How tall is that battery?

Not really, it's dark here now and I'll be away tomorrow...
Battery cradle is slightly higher then frame rail, maybe 1/8 inch, there's about 1.5-2 inches of space above the battery to the cab floor, enough to handle the cables, access to the front battery clamp is easy thorugh the floor storage bin. Please use protectve tubing for the cables abd a main fuse close to the battery.
Battery is a Bosch S5A15 in my case, Measurements are (L x W x H) 392 x 175 x 190 mm, sorry only metric...
Did you read the other tread I posted, I went his way and he got better pictures...

Starting off with this jump pack. Might do a charge circuit off the trailer charge circuit to "trickle charge" Can plug into the two gauge for more rapid or throw the 120 v charger on it at the house.
