Pass on the silly grill guard stuff ruins your approach angle.

Additionally grill guards destroy your truck in a crash. Caving into the front end. Better to save for a nice bumper instead as was mentioned.

Most of them that mount to the lower radiator support or worse and do not provide any actual protection past a bush. Can't take deer strikes for example.

We got one we liked when we got our 2005. Try linex.ca look for light/led bars. Plate steel sides w 2” horizontal bar. Centers above winch;
Plates bolted right to the frame. Sits& about mid grille above the bumper. Out of the way for approach/ does not impact winching. Definitely NOT a grille guard but not flimsy. Good construction, good look. Might be something to check out.

The factory bumper does a fairly good job against deer for being tin foil. Like you said, any of the bolt-on light bars on the market will likely increase the damage caused by a moving impact.
Here is what a 60mph deer strike on the driver's side of the bumper looks like.

That's impressive - relatively little damage to the truck. Where's a shot of the deer -

The stock bumper on my 3G has taken 3 separate shots from deer. One at 80 mph right into the winch. My Aluminess bumper has taken 3 shots from deer, and you can't even tell.

You need a deer whistle mounted to a train horn.

Deer around here are suicidal.

Here they play high-speed follow the leader across the roads. I guess they Always see the grass as greener on the other side of the road!
As you're cruising down the road, you will miss the first deer, plaster the second deer, and the third deer will plow into the side of your vehicle.

I have the Westin HDX on my ‘13. Haven’t hit any deer or anything with it, but I’m confident it would do its job. It’s stronger and beefier than another grill guard I’ve seen in person.
