Recall done

I got my shifter recall and the cruise recall done this morning. I absolutely hate my dealer up here, but they are the only ones around. I heard about transmission hard shifting issues after the cruise recall, but mine seems to be working ok for now. It took about 30 minutes for both. Be safe.

Yeah, I've been pondering on those two as my truck finally runs the way it should. Not looking to go backwards.

I don't know how much I will use it, but I want the Hill Descent Control to work on my truck. That is a fix on the 2018 trucks with the cruise control recall. It is 1.5 hours to the nearest dealer. One won't return my messages. The other can't get me in for about a month.

Mine too. I now have three outstanding recalls and I doubt I'll bother with any of them.

Same. After the whole deal with Larry H Miller charging me and arm and a leg for a "diagonstic" to tell me what I told them the problem was and not fixing my evap when they said they fixed it, I'm not sure I want to bother. I hate Stealerships.

It's the reason I haven't bothered to to reset the TPMS despite having a AEV ProCal, I just don't want to go into the dealer and deal with stupid.

Dennis Dillon treated me really right. Call them on the phone and get your 4 digit pin. I'll be back in Boise next month and might be able to time it with an Autel Maxsys and AE I'll have for a few days. It depends on where I am in the waiting list though.

Wait until the parts for the cute "tailgate pops open" recall are there and do them all at once.

I didn't think the tailgate recall applied to 2018?

What issue do you have with hill descent control?

When did the line run out of the bad component? There is usually a whole bunch of mixed year models when the changes are pretty trivial.

Hill Descent Control does not work at all on the 2018s. Apparently, it is a know issue and is incorporated in the cruise control recall.

Then I guess the 2018 owners will have to use the backup method like I do - the brake pedal :poke:

2015 was the first year with hill descent - it was like the only change from 2014 to 2015.

It has always worked on my 16. It would be nice if it had a little higher speed limit though.

Thats interesting, never even tried it. Lost its luster 13 years ago when I bought an Xterra. It was cool to hang out the door going down major slick rock in Moab.......After that I realized how ridiculous it really is. Not as bad as crawl control on the 2015 Four Runner which 100% does not work because of lack of gearing, but still pretty useless.

I'd always thought it was useless, but it's actually pretty damn nice on incredibly long downhill crawl descents. I don't use it much anywhere outside of Moab, but trails like Moab Rim and Top of the World that when you are going downhill, you're on the brakes the entire time. Low and 1st are not enough anymore on my truck. Maybe after I regear. But I used hill descent a lot this year. It's actually really nice and had me wondering why I didn't use it more often. That comment came from a lot of folks at PWIM this year.

Had 3 recalls done this afternoon on my 14 and did not notice any change on my drive home. Dealer also reset the ECU to coincide with the procal. So no more TPMS light:) Was hesitant of the dealer, but they were great. So the dealer in Vicksburg Michigan gets my thumbs up

Are you referring to the HDC?

They may have finally gotten it sorted out for yours. My 2018 delivered in March would allow you to select HDC, but you could not +/- the speed at all. It would only operate at the slowest setting. I found out there was a service bulletin about the 2018s.

Just checked on mine via the mopar site and the tailgate popped up with the cruise. Of course it says the parts are not available. :D Sure they will give me issues because I have the DeZee shock to keep the tailgate in check.

No, the DeZee wont be a problem at all. However will void your engine warranty somehow, pretty sure.

I haven't driven my truck since sometime in the early spring. Received an FCA notice about outstanding recalls, called the local stealership and they verified my VIN had 2 recalls and a TSB (3x total: cruise, ECU, and shifter interlock). I told the service tech that my cruise control has been operating intermittently for about a year (would take dozens of presses of the on/off button over dozens/hundreds of miles for the cruise to actually turn on in stand-by/ready mode), and had stopped working all together the last time I drove it back in early May. I reluctantly made an appointment for all three recalls, fix the cruise functionality issue, and had them change the oil/rotate the tires since I was already bringing it in.

I dropped off the truck in the evening, picked it up the following evening, and the results are: Cruise control still did not work, ABS dash light was illuminated, and received a center cluster "SERVICE THE ELECTRONIC BRAKING SYSTEM" warning upon start-up. So as I feared, they violated the prime directive "DO NO HARM", after a long call explaining what they did not fix, and what is now not working that was working BEFORE I dropped it off, they told me to bring it back in. Another night at the dealer and I have it back...all seems to be working. I did have to re-program the ECU with my procal, apparently the ECU wipe they did for one of the recalls reset the ECU to default settings.

Quick note regarding cruise control issues, not related to a software issue. If you can turn cruise control on and it works and then out of nowhere it cuts out, it is very possible that an intermittent poor connection exists to an ABS sensor. Any interruption in a plug will cut out cruise control but will not set an ABS alarm unless it stays disconnected. This is NOT related to the recall.

On my 2015, the cruise on/off button stopped working after a day of wheeling. Oh crap, what did I break? My passenger googled it, there is a known problem with the button. He said flick it. I flicked it. Cruise worked again. No shit, there I was. . .

Yep. My cruise control intermittently won't turn on when I push the button. Several miles down the road I'll give the button another try and sure enough it is back and ready to cruise. :-/

Next time flick it. Just flick it.
