So, I have read tire thread after tire thread.....maybe I am missing something, but I can't seem to tell what can be ran on my truck. I am going to be buying aftermarket rims, but have a few questions. Do 35's and 37's work with aftermarket rims? Do they require any mods to work? What offset do I need to get them to work? I have been looking at 12.5 inch wide tires. Thank you for any help in advance.

I have a 2016 tradesman. All I can post is my experience, I know others on here have run 35 and 37`s the same as me. I have 37 Ridge Grapplers, they measure a little over 36 on the truck (tire pressure will effect this) on MY truck I have run them on stock suspension with Stock Rims, only rubbed on radius arms on U-turn type turns. I now have Thuren 1.5 level on front. I ran the same tires/rims - only rub on Radius arm on U-turn type turns. rest was fine

I have now switched to method Standards 17 inch X 5.75 or +18 back space. This moved the tire out about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch , but is still tucked in under flare. I have no rub what so ever now. It seems to have moved the rim/tire away from the radius arm. I never had to trim plastic liner, or Pinch weld that some say they have to, even stock.

I have been off road with the truck, but havnt had anyone that could stand outside and see if it was rubbing anywhere while stuffing into wheel well. I havnt seen any visible marks on truck or tires!!

I know the Toyo R/T is similar in size from what others have posted on here. The Toyo M/T has more lug on the side of it, a few people running them as well, but you may have more interference with them. On the rims Aftermarket and tire interference, it will really depend on offset. I know I looked on line a lot before I pulled the trigger. there are some off road shops who have good info and have done a lot of Rams like CJC off road( most Diesels), but have a lot of experience with off road rims, and 37`s

Sorry I missed a few things . My Tires are 37 X 12.5 x 17 . and My Method standards are 17 X 8,5 wide with a 5.75 or +18 backspace

I run Toyo RT 35/12.5R17 on a 2016 Laramie. Stock rims, no modifications to height, etc., no rubbing with the same tire in factory spare location (deflated to 20psi). And carry onboard air. I've never heard a single rub. Stock rims are really hard to replace. They have a lip in them so you can run low pressure. Hard to find on the market. You'll basically be downgrading function for looks. To each their own, just an FYI.

That's is exactly the problem replacing stock wheels. Also the fact that most aftermarket wheels are cast instead of forged. I really want my wheels to be black though. Have heard mixed opinions on whether or not it is ok to powder coat our stock forged wheels.

The biggest issue with the stock wheels (setting aesthetics aside) is they have a bit too much backspacing.

Also, this super magical interior bead holder thingamajigy certainly does not look any more impressive than any other wheel I have seen. I personally do not bank on that all that much.

How much "better" do you consider the stock wheels being forged compared to a quality cast aftermarket wheel?

Forged steel is generally stronger and more reliable than castings and plate steel due to the fact that the grain flows of the steel are altered, conforming to the shape of the part.

The advantages of forging include:

Generally tougher than alternatives
Will handle impact better than castings
The nature of forging excludes the occurence of porosity, shrinkage, cavities and cold pour issues.
The tight grain structure of forgings making it mechanically strong. There is less need for expensive alloys to attain high strength components.

Maybe just get wheels from a 2017? They would be black. The backspacing only matters if you want to go larger than 35s. I didn't because i wasn't willing to give up towing and full size spare in stock location.

That's my issue. I want 37s. I don't tow heavy or frequently.
