Anyone care to guess?

I'm replacing a part that has failed on me twice with parts I've pieced together out of summit racings catalogue. Any idea what this is for?

Looks a bit like one of the rear swaybar links on my 16. Only thing I can think of offhand.

Excellent guess, but no. I should have mentioned it's a 3G so no rear sway bar.

Give the man a cigar! Yes sir, the crappy rubber bushing has died on me for the last time. Installing this today.

The linkage on my 16 kept popping out when it was new. Took it to a dealer in WV and they just shoved it back in without changing or fixing anything.
Took it to my dealer when I got back to Ohio and told them to put a retainer on it so it would never happen again. The tech did it too.
BTW, my 07 still has the original bushings and they work fine. The 16 had less then 700 miles on it and it fell out every time I tried to take it out of 4WD.

Strange the tremendous difference between your trucks Waldo, my 09' has shit the linkage twice now over the years. First time I lost it and second time the retainer kept it on the truck but the bushings fell apart.
It's super easy to piece together damagewagon, I'll list the part numbers so people can put one together themselves if they'd like.
From summit racing
1 AFC-36176 threaded tube
1 SUM-MAXL10T left hand thread rod end w/ jam nut
1 SUM-MAX10T right hand thread rod end w/jam nut
2 MEZ-SW58A rod end safety washers
2 5/8x2 1/2" grade 8 bolts with nuts and washers from local hardware store
Just got it installed, was a minor pain on mine because of the front driveshaft safety hoop, but pretty easy and only took about 5 minutes. Shifts like BUTTER! No noticeable extra vibrations so far either.
Just antisieze the rod ends thread them in and get its overall length adjusted to match the stocker, then bolt it up. I'm going to get some stover lock nuts and 2-1/2" bolts, local store only had 2" length and it's in need of a bit more thread engagement.

Looks beefy enough. Mine has not given me any troubles. But I think I might do this for insurance. Be my luck, mine will fall off when I'm bumper deep in some smelly mud hole.

I would hate to have to get under the truck out where you're wheeling in rausch creek rusty!

Ace's linage fell off as soon as we hit the first trail. There is a picture posted in the Rausch Creek thread of Peter and Ace spooning fixing the linkage.

This is a must do for insurance and it really does shift like butter! Two finger shifts.

Glad I could be of help!
Reloaderguy - they have several longer and shorter swagged tubes of the same design, I would imagine it could be adapted pretty easily for the newer trucks

Very nice! That should work way better than original! And as always I am amazed at how clean your trucks are underneath!

Mostly sand where I'm at, even the black mud holes rinse off easy. Grew up in Ga where the red clay is and that will build up like brick and mortar under a truck. Haha

Sand and hardpack dirt is just about all my truck sees, mud is almost nonexistent here lol. It's just too damn dry

Hey colibri do you happen to remember what yours measured center to center or end to end, I have 2017 and if indeed it is 2.5 shorter the shortest sleeves summit has are 4". Going to measure my linkage tonight. love the idea and going to try to do before becomes problem. Thanks

The '14+ linkage is approximately 6", about 2.75" shorter than Colibri's. I ordered the 4" tube, hopefully it has the same amount of thread length so I can cut it down. It should be here in a few days.
