My eyes are rolling into the back of my head again with these "Why doesn't the PW have a diesel?"

I have $50 that says Seth Parks the author of this article hasn't actually wheeled a Power Wagon. Usually, the calls always come from diesel owners. You'll notice no one on this forum is bitching regularly with multiple threads about why we didn't get a diesel. And the people calling for it, can never offer a reason why it should have one beyond "Torque is cool". Actually, after reading the whole article, he never offers a reason why. Just states that RAM is missing out on money or something to that effect.

He left out some other problems diesel pose offroad with all that added weight and stress on the front axle. Ram engineers elsewhere have stated that the diesel's oil pan sits lower and possess problems with protection and upward compression of the front suspension. All that weight, isn't necessarily a good thing in certain soft terrains either. I've seen plenty of "Diesel Bros" sink their trucks.

Considering the expense, I don't think I'd buy a diesel PW. I tow a lot and researched the hell out of reasons why I didn't want a diesel. And the extra expense and hassle were part of my decision to buy a gasser.

I think people just want the diesel because it seems cool. Considering our already reduced payload, I'm sure a diesel would only hurt the PW even further.

I am sure a lot of people love the idea. The calling gets much smaller once you factor in who can actually afford it. The diesel option (~$6,500) plus the Power Wagon option (~$6,500) makes the Diesel Power Wagon demographic pretty small from a business perspective.

The cost savings on replacement gas caps alone should be enough to offset the diesel option.

I won't shell out the extra $$ for a Cummins PW. This is coming from a guy that buys nothing but new Powerwagons (I'm on my third and have two right now).

I don't tow, and most of all the new diesels are encumbered with so much pollution crap that the juice isn't worth the squeeze based on mileage alone. More electronic crap and a blinker fluid tank to boot.

Something like a 4BT swap into a J80 Land Cruiser is cool. But I don't want a diesel in my Power Wagon. I like being able to hear my spotter without yelling too.

hey i just bought one! oh wait...forgot i just sold the 2012 PW. But now i have the Cummins for towing. Found out last night on a search and rescue call the 2500 Cummins can never replicate a PW's suspension. AEV can't possibly improve the flex. Suprisingly the 20's aren't too bad, but i'm still thinking of 17" wheels with 285 tires.

Have you ever beat a dead horse though in real life? It's loads of fun. We used to do it all the time back in Virginia.

I thought I wanted a center console until I borrowed my friend's 1500...I much prefer the fold up bench. The one thing I really miss in the Power Wagon is the Limited or Longhorn leather option. I'm just waiting for the fake leather to split so I can do a custom 100% leather interior. The interior isn't bad now but it could be A LOT better.
