I would suspect the majority of trucks sold these days come with carpet. Just wondering what your thoughts are on carpet vs rubber floors? If going carpet I do believe a good set of floorliners, such as Weather Tech's are essential. Any thoughts, opinions, real experiences.

It's hard to beat the Mopar floor mats front and rear. They hook in place, so they don't move around at all. They are designed specifically for our trucks and cover all of the carpet. They're available at the Mopar store

I have the Weather Tech mats and they hook too. They're great, full carpet coverage and protection. I have little ones, so it's essential.

I never liked rubber floors, but after owning a truck for a couple of years now, I think it actually does make a lot of sense. Too bad most come carpeted these days.

I went yesterday to order a 2017 PW only to find the sales manager that quoted me over the phone the previous day was not in, but was still on the fence of this topic.

I have done some snooping on here. With the carpet, you can buy a good mat, and in winter with melting snow, you can empty the mat of the water. With rubber you can still run a mat, but don't have to be as conscious of mud, as you can let it dry and sweep it out. But a guy from Alaska on here stated that with rubber floor when the snow on your boots melt, it can pool in the truck. So still need to run a mat anyway.

Decisions, decisions....

Having had trucks both ways, I prefer carpet with mats for a daily driver truck that you want to keep presentable (not talking about dedicated trail trucks, beaters, etc). With vinyl floor, you still need mats unless you want to have to clean the entire floor regularly. Mats can be pulled out and dumped. If I'm in and out of my truck a lot on a snowy day, I may dump my floor mat a couple of times in a day.

I ordered my truck with the rubber floor. I also use the Mopar mats. Easy clean up. Would definitly order rubber floor again. I don't think carpet belongs in a truck.

Good topic, no one thinks of it until they're dealing with mud and goop on a regular basis. I can tell you in AK, I ordered the WeatherTech mats for my King Ranch and I wasn't as huge of a fan as I was hoping. They do come up high, but they leave a decent enough gap along the sides for snow and crap to fall between, so you're still cleaning out behind the mats, so for the $$$ WeatherTech charges, I'm tepid at best on them.

I ordered my PW with the MOPAR all weather mats (for 14's I think vinyl was only available on Tradesman) and so far, they're good, just not great. If they had about an inch or so higher lip, they would be perfect. After hunting in deep snow repeatedly, they will naturally pool, and overflow. I think a rubber /vinyl floor with the MOPAR all weather rubber mats or WeatherTech would be perfect. The carpet looks fine, but it's a pain to get the mud/dirt/dried leaves/food crumbs out all the time. I'm very anal, but I hunt a lot, and my truck is constantly dirty, and I wear slip on camp shoes driving and try to keep the muddy boots out of the cabin as much as possible, but my German Shorthair didn't get the wipe your feet before entering memo--we're still working on it

Carpet makes the truck easier to sell later. I would only get rubber flooring if it was a dedicated work or off-road vehicle and even then, I would put mats in because makes cleaning up simpler.

It just doesn't feel right with the rubber...

Weather tech are plastic and harden with age. The ones in my last truck rolled up like a taco after repeated wet, mud and cleanings. I have husky x-act contours in this truck and they're fantastic mats. The coverage is greater and they're softer/rubber so they conform better.

I have the vinyl floor and absolutely love it. My use has been desert, dirt and some mud. I wouldn't do carpet of you are in dust a lot because it stays dusty and can be hard to get all the dirt out of. My truck is completely filthy after running it in the desert over the weekend and the floor is the only part I don't have to worry about cleaning, I can just grab a vacuum and a brush and be done with it. If you are in a wetter environment I would still prefer the vinyl but they both suffer the drawback that they were never designed to get really wet or submerged. I wish the floors were like the old jeeps where you pulled a drain plug and washed them out with a hose, but the sound and vibration insulation under the vinyl/carpet is very worth having so I can't complain.

My money says, go with whatever floor covering you want (I do suspect the vinyl floor may not suppress noise as well as carpet, not 100% sure though), get the weather tech mats & add some to them on the front/sides so you really do have full coverage. I noticed right when the "Toyota gas pedals were allegedly sticking", that floor mat makers stopped way more short of the pedals than they did before this alleged issue. Liability i guess.

I have Husky Xact Contour mats. They are pretty great.

i've had both. if it's your dd, then get carpet with weather tech floor mats. plus it just feels nicer.

as mentioned, if it's a dedicated trail rig or rigorous work truck then stick to vinyl rubber.

Yes the truck will be my daily driver. I probably wouldn't have thought twice about it, but after talking to my old man and him being old school, he suggested the vinyl flooring for the ease of cleaning. Granted we do go camping, hiking, dirt-biking, all the fun stuff it did make me go, "Hmmmm maybe vinyl/rubber floor would be good" and living in Alberta when we get 4 months of snow.

But I do agree carpet seems nicer for the everyday driving. How does the dog hair stand up to the carpet? The GF really wants a lab sooner then later haha Got to keep everyone happy

And floor mats won't stay put after after an Armor All treatment on the rubber floor unless they are secured in place.

I have had weathertechs and regular Husky mats and have the same experience; they're kind of hit or miss. I have regular Husky mats in my Wife's care and they function fine but are hard and just kind of meh. However, I have Husky Xact Contour rubber mats in my truck and they are perfect. I wish they made them for my wife's car but they don't (which is why I don't have them). You still have to vacuum the carpet but no mud or dirt.
