So while out playing with jeeps today, I smacked my tie-rod really hard. Hard enough top slightly tweak it causing my steering wheel to be off center a bit. nothing horrible as after I removed my destroyed steering stabilizer, i was able to drive home just fine. Tomorrow I'm going to try and bend it back out slightly but in the event I can't, will a tie-rod from a 2012 2500 work. Totally new to Ram trucks and I'm having a hard time locating aftermarket replacement steering parts for 2014. I'm assuming there's no difference regular Ram 2500's vs. the Power Wagon 2500 steering.

Put up some pics of your tie Rod. Usually damaging that means you should replace it, but it's possible you could fix it.

2014 has a different steering design than 2013 and older. You need a 2014+ tie rod.

I too was going to ask why not heim. There's is a ton of strengths to the heim. Or is it just because that was a DOR link

Was just over at tgibbs place (DTX) and he has Thurens heim drag link on both trucks. Big upgrade. Sometimes as heims wear in they begin to click, that could be annoying. Assuming the correct hardware is used though, I don't doubt the strength. His truck that had heim steering also had 2.5 coilovers and 4.4 bypass shocks on the front axle, hydro assist, monster truss, cummins... 4-link and 4.4 bypass/2.5 coilover going into the rear. If that truck didn't break it....

Looking at that I cannot confirm or deny that lol. Everything I've seen from DOR has been nylon locking nuts or another form of lock nut. The kind that are dented on the top and pinch pretty hard. But looking at that one pic I couldn't tell you.

I wouldn't hesitate to run heim steering if it's a solid quality joint, aurora or an fk. People say good things about ruff stuff joints but I have no personal experience with them.

I've run heim steering on my prerunner for years (as well as radius arm joints and all 4 link mounts), never an issue even smacking rocks buried in silt or on a trail. Where heims may not be ideal is if you live somewhere they salt the roads... the salt eats up the liner and they'll wear out quicker. In that environment a greased balljoint is a better solution. I definitely don't like the hardware in that picture though. Those regular nuts don't belong on there. I see a nylock on the bottom, but you want a top lock/stover with loctite and proper length hardware so you don't burn up the lock on 1" extra thread.

Toplocks/stovers should be almost exclusive on steering and suspension. My locks work ok but they don't have the same bite and the nylon wears out from environmental reasons. Proper thread length is critical like yellowranger said.

Really though, that factory steering setup on those trucks is a freaking beast. I see no reason to change it. It may actually be a downgrade. The tie Rod would be stronger material, but the OEM steering already has very good joints and geometry.

Loud and reduced longterm durability. I have never had a heim last longer than two seasons before the liners were falling out. Obviously quality varies but in general they do not last as long as cartridge joints in adverse weather conditions. Maybe that's fine in the Southwest but in the snow and salt it's not. Not to mention when they loosen up the steering gets floppy.

Weren't you the one who just got done replacing a rod end on a trackbar?

Yep, the factory older smaller one original to a Carli bar. Run hard by Rusty in the... rust... Of Pennsylvania. Completely rusted out but still ran fine til one day the liner puked it's guts out, like you said happens. Didn't get any warning. Still works though, and a larger size $40 replacement heim went in. I would take EMF heims if that were an option. Just tell Danny not to charge you for heims and grab EMF's. They are made specifically for harsh climates.
