I knew it was coming but I didn't think it would be this soon. I've put about 2500 miles on the '08 and just turned 25k miles.

I had death wobble on my old lj but it doesn't compare to this at all! My pw hasn't had the ball joint recall completed yet and it's still running original bfg ats.

I'm going to start by getting the recall done and replacing the tires asap with at2s or falkens. 285/75r17s

Any other suggestions in the meantime?

Both of those choices sound good. It sounds like you might have read this, but this is a good read if you haven't. He specifically mentions your tires.

This is great info damagewagon. The process begins! I intend on keeping this truck for a long while so I might bite the bullet on replacing many of he front end components right out of the gate.

I know my BJ's are going but I'm getting my new drag link this week so I will see if that fixes the DW I'm starting to get. I'm in for some fun since my BJ's are Moog Problem Solvers. They are the splined type so I believe my only option now is to use the oversize EMF ball joints. I've heard good things about the Carli joints and people either love or hate their Dynatracs. I haven't heard a single word on the EMF joints but I literally just got a box of their tie rods ends dropped in front of me this morning, and these things are feggin beeeeefy pieces of meat. Looking forward to the heaviest duty part of my truck being a steering linkage... That was cheaper than factory replacement Moog parts... lol

There are some guys on here and on Dodge Trucks Xtreme who have experience with the nicer ball joints if you want to go that route. There is more info on DTX than you could imagine, I would hit that forum up. Those guys know exactly what breaks, factory or otherwise...

Dynatrac now has knurled Ball joints to hopefully take up any of the slop caused by the moogs. I had dynatracs on my old rig and is one of the first mods for my new truck. The difference was night and day

Very cool I didn't know Dynatrac had a knurled style. I'm really leaning towards EMF because they are only about $450 plus shipping, their quality seems great and they are adjustable and rebuild able. The adjustable part seems like a real deal maker to me. I can't find anyone who has tried them though, I need references before I go that route.

Dw is primarily caused by tre. Check all 4 tie rods. If you can get the steering recall it will replace the two outer tie rods with the tie rod assembly. You will have to also check the drag link ends. Steering stab is not a fix. It's a mask that may temporarily fix. Tie rods are the cure for the massive side to side shake.
If in fact you're having a bouncing oscillating type vibration that is awful but not throwing the steering side to side then it's balljoints. I've had both happen to me and corrected both.

I had the ole DW a few years ago in mine Everytime I hit a bump it would start ended up being the passenger side tie rod end and all four ball joints

I had DW on my 2012 at around 28,000 miles while running the stock BFG's. Since replacing the stock BFG's with Toyo A/T II's I've never had another issue (I've got around 42,000 miles on my truck now).

Had it in the shop yesterday for the recall....of course, no issue found. Putting on toyos Monday and having a local 4x4 shop do a once over on the front end while it's there. Hope the tires help!

You probably dobt need it with toyos, buf if you can fina a local place that does road force balancing certainly the way to go. Balances the tires with the weight of the truck on them. That was the only way I could get my interco's to balance...but like I said with the toyos you should be fine

So I took it in for the recall at a local dealer....no issues found that triggered replacement. I also had a local 4x4 shop take a look at it while putting on the toyos. No issues to raise alarm.

I will say that the toyos are night and day to the bfgs and I haven't had the slightest sign of DW since installing them.

Fingers crossed this fixed it for a while. I'm still prepared to attack the front end when issues arise.

Just so you know, tires are not the main culprit of death wobble. They may have exaggerated your issues into the death wobble occurring, but they are not your main issue.

Good luck figuring out what your real issue is, it can be quite a difficult task.
