Wanting to mount my 60" hi lift in the bed of my power wagon with ram boxs, any body got any ideas? Thanks

Have a custom bed rack made, then mount it on that.

On my normal bed I have a shovel above the wheel well one one side, hi lift other. With ram box I might did assemble and try to store inside it.

Just remember guns don't kill people, hi lifts do. I hate them with a passion and would recommend an aluminum racing floor jack instead.

Not saying a floor jack is not neat, but I have never used them as winch or to put rocks under tire or jacked the vehicle up and moved it over side ways.

My Hi-lift is only a 48" but this is how I mounted it. I have to take the base plate off the jack but I modified that also with a bigger plate for use in snow and sand to help avoid sinking(It is attached to the jack with one bolt when stored) I used aluminum unistrut attached to the rails. No bolting thru the truck. The original tie downs can't travel very far but I don't use those anyway. The cargo divider could still be used to a point if I didn't have my shovel mounted that way. The other bar going from side to side is just to hold my pul-pal in place.

Hi-Lifts have their place. I have one. The 60" Rescue Jack. I think it gives you more options for off-road use as well. It is one of those things that you need a good understanding of & it's capabilities to use it properly and safely. Trouble with most vehicles today, a Hi-lift can not be used on it due to lack of bumper strength & bumper mounting bracket strength. You certainly can use it in/on a 2" receiver hitch, or custom bumpers &/or Rock Rails.

Anything not used properly can injure or kill you. The trick with Hi-Lifts is to make sure the jaw does not/can not slip off of what ever you are jacking up. Unless you have dedicated Hi-Lift jack slots in your bumpers/rock-rails, you have to get a little creative. A simple 10,000 lb axle strap w/protective sleeve in 24" or 34" or a nice piece of short chain & a large grade 8 bolt, washers, lock washer, nut, &/or a grade 8 bolt through the hitch pin will keep it from slipping off of the jacking point. 2 pieces of 4"x4" wood to your desired length will keep it from sinking into soft terrain. If you have holes in your base, you can lag bolt it to the 4x4 wood, to keep the bottom from slipping as well. If doing any rocks, it is very possible to have to use your winch and a high lift to get up over a rock while pulling yourself forward with the winch.

And there are probably just as many videos of bad things happening with Hi-Lift style jacks, of people not using them properly.

They are fine, I really just thought it was a funny slogan.

I will say, if you store them outside, they need a ton of lubrication if you aren't using them all the time. I also rebuilt mine pretty regularly. I also have found you can fail them at below designed weight. The tall ones (72"s) also bend pretty easy if you are ever in a situation where they are stressed by a side force. (IE the jack failed and you have to drive off of it.)

For tire/wheel related, I like a floor jack with skid plate as they are quicker, much safer, and you aren't unloading the suspension to get the tire off the ground. Obviously if you are high centered on a rocker or t'case, the high lift is better.

They are a very cheap way of gaining mechanical advantage....

See pic of 48" Hi-Lift in my old GMC. No pics with me of the PW mount, but I have a 60" Extreme on a similar mount, but with the jack base resting on a steel lip bolted to the face of the taillight housing inside the bed. The jack post is wing-nutted to a bracket bolted through the fender well. Use a jack isolator to keep everything quiet, and use stainless bolts and wingnuts with anti-seize so that you can deploy the jack without needing other tools. This setup is similar to the way AZ game wardens have the jacks mounted in their trucks.

These are all good ideas but .I believe the OP is looking for ideas for the Ram Box.

I thought that originally too, but nope, he is looking to mount them in the bed (according to his post anyway).

I was thinking bed to begin with and I have the ram boxs, I after hearing and seeing a lot of good ideas I thinking maybe in one of the ram boxs, my jack is 60". Thanks for all the ideas.

The back side of the rambox is under 60" wide, so it may be a tight fit if it will even fit at all. How long is the jack?

The base is pinned so it can go to the shaft length (60") quickly. Could cut a few inches off so it would fit?

Looking at those ideas, wonder how it would look standing straight up in bed like they do on the side of jeeps or on their tire rack.

I think if i wanted to carry one around, i would do like ramv stated and cut an inch of the shaft and sneek it in my passenger side rambox with all my other straps and stuff. But i would take some time and get it mounted securely, somehow. There has to be a way.

I think trimming the jack to fit in the box is going to be the way to go. Mounting it in the bed is going to interfere with the bed divider (which I find very useful), and take up a few inches of your bed width (I pack my bed pretty tight with gear in plastic totes or ice chests).

The neoprene cover works pretty well, along with the Daystar isolator. The fake leather one falls apart the first time you use it.

I know this thread is old, but here's how I just mounted mine in a RamBox truck. Took the jack apart to its major pieces: jack bar, foot (replaced the bolt with a 1/4" pin), handle (replaced the cotter pin with a single leg snap button), and running gear. I built plywood dividers and a jig to hold the jack bar and handle. The handle's held on with Quick Fist clamps, and the jack bar is on 1/2" bolts with wing nuts.
