Bad mpg at 2016 pw

Post by Engele » Thu Dec 08, 2016 3:43 pm

Hi guys,

I have now 10.000km on my 2016 Power Wagon and i Love it. I bought it with 2.000km and the fuel consumption at the highway 130km/h ca. 80+mph was about 16,5liters ca 14,2mpg.
Now they need at 70mph about 11-11,5mpg /20-22l/100km.
Something is wrong with the pw. Attached a video from last week. Is someone here who had similar problems?

Flat highway, no wind 350psi at tires.
Best regards alex

Well there's your problem, your tires exploded and you're skating on rims!

Just kidding. That sounds odd, like you have an injector that is plugged partway open. I would take that back to the dealer. Normally mileage improves as engines break in. That is insane. My beat up 5.7 with 150,000 miles (5,000,000,000 km) gets 12 commuting in bad traffic and 15 on highway at those speeds. You should be seeing better. Have the dealer check it out. If they have too long of a wait time or run you around, post up again and we can do some troubleshooting.

The larger than stock tires and possibly uncorrected speedo might have something to do with it.

Could be poor fuel or high ethanol content... How does the engine sound at idle? I assume it hasn't popped up any codes or you would have mentioned that.

If I got 14 mpg, that would be an 80% increase over what i get now @ 8 !

Prob just the winter blend.

Speaking of fuel, I got some kerosene today, first time in like 5 years, :jawdrop: $3.30 a gal on the Indian reservation. More than diesel fuel ? Reg unl was $1.65 a gal. I don't get gas there anymore, I had a bad experience back in 2000, that took 12 bottles of dry gas, just to get my truck to run & then 2 days later, I had 2 o2 sensors throw codes.
