Radio problems

Post by TJ02Gopher » Mon Dec 05, 2016 1:19 pm

Has anybody had problems with their radio automatically switching from your selected audio source( Sirus, USB plug in for phone, or even FM Radio) to your current FM channel, but sound only coming from the left front speaker and then switching back like a second later? My 2016 PW is doing this randomly. I have the 8.4 non NAV radio with Alpine Audio package. My previous 2013 Ram 1500 with the 8.4 NAV radio did this as well, and the dealer could not find a problem or couldn't duplicate the issue. I just had all the software updates three weeks ago, since the dealer I bought it from didn't do it like I had asked them to before taking delivery.

Never heard of that one, or had any other issues with my 2015 8.4A radio behaving erratically.

You are not alone. Mine did it for about 3 months - had a mind of its own. Dealer did some reprogramming with no change. Then about 6 weeks ago it stopped acting up. I am supposed to take it back in for more re-programming, but I'm not sure I should now. I'm just gonna wait and see for now.

I agree with the randomness. I don't know if its a loose connection or what. I thought it was a loose connection, because it seem to happen over rough roads or hard cornering while driving, until it happen while sitting in my driveway. Now I don't know. I do know a trip to the dealer is in my future :(

Mine is screwed up too. If i want to adjust the bass or treble & turn up or down, it does the opposite of what it is supposed to do. Meaning: if i turn bass or treble up (to the right or clockwise) it goes down instead of up. If i turn to the left or counter clockwise, it goes up. And when adjusting radio stations, it just jumps all over the place. I can be at 102.5, turn it just a hair & it jumps to 90.6. It's possessed.

My AM reception is very poor after traveling 40-50 miles from the station. I get a lot of static which noticeably intensifies when I depress the brake pedal and release it. My 2008 GMC still has stellar reception up to 80 miles away on the same station. I wish I knew what to do to improve the AM reception on my '16 PW. I live in a very remote region and there's only one station to tune to for news and weather. No Sirius or cell phone service. I miss my quality AM reception.

Mine always starts in satellite mode, I figured it was pre-set that way from the factory as part of the agreement with Sirius. This bugs me since I didn't renew my Sirius contract and would prefer that it started where it last was but, it is programmed into the radio and can't be changed.

I imagine that came about with the new 8.4 Unconnect that the 13+s have. My old style Uconnect doesn't do that, starts up on whatever it was when shut off.

If AM radio is all that one can tune into then it's a big deal if the reception is poor. :lockedandloaded:

Whatever mode I leave the radio in when I shut off the PW. That's what is on when I go to start the PW back up.

I checked my 2016 today whatever it was on when I turned it off is what it was on when I started it back up. Sirius or fm or auxiliary. It didn't matter.
