2015 tuner

Post by Boomerttl » Mon Nov 14, 2016 12:47 pm

Ok I looked on the site for info on the tuners and sorry if this has been covered before and I'm sure it has, but I'm a little confused. It seems in order to get the tuner for my truck I need to get a tuner, an unlocked ECU and the program info for the tuner,( Im thinking about the hemi fever ) is this right? It seems like a lot of money to spend and a lot of trouble, is it worth it? Will it hurt my engine doing this? And do I need to be master mechanic to do this, (Im a driver not a mechanic,) I can do the regular things brake pads, u-joints,belts most maintenance stuff etc, and not really computer savvy, with that being said I guess what I want to know is what I would need to do to put a tuner or programmer or what ever it is in my truck and is it worth it in performance and engine life in the long run? Just need a little help on this, sorry, please be gentle.

That's it for the '16, not sure about the '15.

I'm not quite pissed off enough to shell out that kind of $$ just on the slight chance I can get the trans to shift where I want it to. (In my case).

Yes you need a new ecu for anything later than 2014. From what I've read it is a 5 minute job to swap the ecu's and it is pretty much idiot proof. The tuners are super easy to use and Sean (hemifever) can walk you through the whole thing but it isn't hard.

Ok thanks,I take it you have done this, may be a dumb question, but is it worth the money to do it, I'm not really looking for better gas mileage just better performance, does it really make that much of a difference? Thanks again

I just read your hemi fever tuning post, good info, are you still happy with it? And would you do it again?

As long as you go into it not expecting gas mileage gains it was worth it at the $400 price I paid. Now I know I wouldn't spend $1000 to do it but that is just me. It makes a good bit of difference in the everyday drive ability that the truck has, but I mainly did it for the fuel mileage gains I never got.

Yeah 1000$ is what it looks like I'll have to drop for a tuner and unlocked ecu, not really a priority right now so probably will wait even though it drives me crazy when it shifts gears. I read your other post and apparently it corrects that, but will just go with an after market muffler for now, thanks for the info :patriot:
