Colour Help 2017

Post by Phantom » Sat Nov 05, 2016 11:44 am

So I'm getting really close to getting an order put in for the 2017 Power wagon. My 04 ford is starting to cost me more than payments now. (1200$ just this week at ford for some silly valve actuator)
I'm having a hard time with the colour pick with the new graphics package. I'm a fan of blue and I liked the blue streak pearl but I think the new graphics make it look a little funny.

So if you go here https://www.ramtruck.ca/en/2500/2500_POW
and hover over the colour chips you can see what it looks like

Also.. just a 2nd opinion CD player.. add or no?

Keep in mind the color choices should all have back graphics except for black, which is going to have silver graphics.
According to the press release http://www.fcanorthamerica.com/News/Pag ... Wagon.aspx there will be six colors available without special order.
"The optional graphics come in two slightly different color variations, depending on vehicle paint. Bright White, Flame Red, Bright Silver, Blue Streak and Granite Crystal receive Gloss Black graphics, where Black Power Wagon’s are covered in Bright Silver graphics."

The only colors Ive seen with the new graphics are red, silver and omaha orange (special order color)
I like the orange and when I order mine Im thinking about getting that color.

In the end, Im holding my judgement until I can actually see more colors with the graphics. Its just too hard to imagine them.

FWIW, I have the cd player in my "Doorsman and I have yet to use it in the two years that Ive had it. Honestly, I haven't used a CD player in a very looong time. But its personal preference.

My personal first would be the Bright White, followed by Maximum Steel.
As far as the CD player, my choice would be no.

Ive seen the white on a Rebel up close and in person. Looks great with the black graphics on that truck. I think it would be one of my top choices with the new PW graphics once I see it.

Hmmm... I can't find the build and price in the states yet? Anyone know when they are starting the '17 build?
I'm liking the white... ;)

I've heard that the black may also be available with black graphics. (might be special order though???)

My vote is for the bright blue! I LOVE that color!!! I know it looks good with and without the current graphics but I must confess I haven't seen it with the new retro graphics. It is a BEAUTIFUL color in person!!!! Silver looks pretty awesome with the new graphics! I really don't feel like you can go wrong with any color!!! (sorry, I know that doesn't help in the choosing, LOL!) Looking at the configurator is really making me want to do a custom vinyl on my truck to look like the 2017 retro graphics! They look sharp!!!!

Black on black would be pretty sweet but the graphics would have to be flat black...they seem to only offer them in gloss black...

That was what I heard is that they would do matte black. Rep may have been mistaken but every new FCA rig I've seen him drive has been all blacked out so...

Phantom, do you have music on CD's that you want to listen to, with no intentions of ever having in any other format?

I can't think of the last time I listened to music off a CD, and CD's as a media format are getting less and less relevant every year. There are lots of other ways to get music in these new trucks.

I do tend to buy CD's and like to listen to them. But I will rip them later to FLAC to be converted to VBR320 mp3 later.

Well if your asking for someone elses opinion, then granite crystal of course!

I have always been a cd guy... i have two huge cases with 100's of cd's. I was originally a little mad when the truck i found did not have the cd player option in it. But honestly, i have not missed it one bit. It's just way more convenient when your phone locks in everytime you get in and all your music is right there to choose from. I would pass on the cd player now. If you do order it, it will be located under the center seat up front and you will loose a storage compartment (not that we are lacking any storage in these trucks!).

Since you asked, would do the Granit Crystal, but am prejudiced,,,re the CD player it would depend on how you store or get your music,,,,in the newer models personally don't like their location as well as the G3's.

Well the black with matte black graphics would be sick! But I've found that most car sales guys don't know what's going on with vehicles that haven't actually hit the lots yet. I would take that info with a huge grain of salt for now. All we know for sure on colors is what the press release says. I only know Omaha Orange is available for special order because it came straight from Bob Hegbloom's (President and CEO of Ram Truck Brand) mouth.
If you confirm please let us know. It's a combo I'd have to seriously consider.

From what I'm seeing of the images for the colours on Ram's site it looks like all the trucks with the black graphics also have this "flame red" stripe in it. Which IMO looks goofy on the blue. looks okay on the white and blends into the red truck.
I like what they did in the 14-16 range where the blue/black had the silverish coloured graphic.

If anybody has successfully ordered a '17 in Omaha Orange, or any other low volume color, please post up. I've been going in circle with many dealers for a couple weeks now trying to make this hapoen, most won't even try because it's not an available box to click on the order sheet, a few have/are trying to talk to their fleet managers to see what the process is, and one sales manager has taken it to his Chrysler rep. Once it got there he came back with it might be possible if we order it as a tester/demo truck. Latest email update he forwarded me from his FCA rep said "it definitely seems possible, but may not be feasible".....whatever that means.

Really sprung on the color combo, dont think the new graphics will look as good on any of the darker or monochrome colors, and I don't like red, lol. Post up if you have any info or tips.

Had I ordered mine, I would have gone blue. I don't like the granite crystal (it's kind of a brown) that I bought. The maximum steel is a nice color too. White will show the least pinstriping.
I would have got the cd player and dual alternators if I was ordering.

Just curious why the dual alternators, I've tossed that idea around just wasn't sure if it was needed.

The dual alternators help A LOT while winching. I've got them on mine.

Also, white does show the least. That's why I chose white this time around. Previous Ram was a Blue Streak Pearl and the pinstriping probably cost me some of the resale value.

The white Laramie's look very sharp, but almost every contractor around here has a white truck and once a vehicle begins to rust I think white is about the worst color to have. Luxury Brown Laramie would probably be best for me.

I prefer the look of the 2014-2016 Laramie's in almost any color (US web-site will let you "build & price" a 2017 Laramie that looks the same as 2014-2016, but maybe they are still updating the web-site).

For the new style 2017 Power Wagon (that shows on Canadian web-site), I do think that Omaha Orange looks great - if you can get it.... I would also like to see a picture of the black.

Dual alternators would be great for winching, on-board air compressor, on-board welder, and/or snow-plow hydraulic pump....

I think there are some problems with the US PW Laramie build and price website. I went through it the other day and didn't have the dual alt option, and it said the wheels were 18"x8" like you'd see on a normal 2500 Laramie.

Yooper, here's a pic of my 2015 "Western brown", which I'm pretty sure is the same as "Luxury brown". It shows dirt easily, but that doesn't bother me. When it's clean and the sun hits it just right, the paint really pops. I think it's a sharp looking color. Also important to me, this thing freaking disappears in the woods like you wouldn't believe. If I leave it parked on a logging road to go fish or hunt, I have to take mental note of landmarks to find it or I'll walk right past it. You definitely shouldn't get one, as far as I know I'm the only sucker on this forum that got taken on this color and it should definitely stay that way ;)

John - I like your setup & that color - there was a used 2015 that looked like yours several months ago in Chicago for about $42k. I should have bought it, but my wife wants me to wait another year or two....
