WTF Happened to this truck?

I'm looking at a truck, its an 05 with 187xxx km. Here's the description:
"The good: runs great 157k , new ball joints and tie rods, new hubs, new front axles, tranny and transfer case have under 20000 km on them, new fuel lines, electronic disconnecting sway bar, front and rear lockers, 12000 pound winch, just changed differential+ motor+ tranny oil, have receipts for all parts, and work done by shop, second owner, oil changed religiously at around 7000k, have all receipts to back it up from previous owner
The bad: Airbag light is on due too wiring issue(can show you exactly what needs to be replaced or repaired or fix it myself before its sold)tires are about 50% ish.. Needs new smart bar( the computer that controls the locking diffs and disconnecting sway bar)for a serious buyer I will have those issues fixed.
I've spent over ten thousand in parts working on this truck and I've had enough of it, make me a reasonable offer and come take it away, also interested in trades"
Is it worth $6,000? Should I run away from it?

I had a new 05. They were buggy as hell. They could never fix mine and cut me a big discount on a new 07 (which has been fine) I still have it.

Purely speculative, but with all that shit replaced I would guess the front driveshaft let go on the highway and thrashed the truck.

"Could be" anything. From simple to complex & expensive. If his lockers don't work & the locker actuator/tone ring/s need to be replaced & you gotta pay, you are looking at big bucks. The bill for just the rear on my truck would have been around $5000.00 if i had to pay for it.

So, stay away?
Still, why would a transmission and t case need work at around 100k miles.

Sounds suspicious to me like something major happened to it, I would walk... unless you have a lot of time, money and patience to restore it to it's original glory...

Saw that one listed in Kamloops. Sounds like alot of gremlins, could nickel and dime you to death and drive you to drink, maybe not a bad thing. I'd keep looking

Yeah, no clue on that sucker, but I'm with the others, I'd walk away. With a price like that, it's bound to have lots of untold issues. Kindof like the good ole phrase, "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". But, I'm not sure about the bugs with 05's. My 2005 has zero bugs or any mechanical or electrical issues. It's still for sale in the classifieds if anyone is interested. I have dropped the price a LOT.

The air bag light is most likely the clock spring under the air bag. Mine went bad and I had a dealer replace. Didn't want to take a chance and have the air bag going off in my face.
The smart bars for the '05 is cheaper then the newer years.

As stated earlier, if a front d-shaft let go at highway speeds, damage can be MAJOR. T-case, transmission, bed, etc. A broken d-shaft spinning at highway speed & bouncing off the road & hitting the under carriage can do a LOT of damage in the blink of an eye. There was a guy on DTalk that thought something was wrong. He was going right past the dealer, so he stopped. They looked at it right away. He said he thought it was the rear u-joints or the rear d-shaft. They said everything was good. He jumped on the highway & 20 min later his rear aluminum d-shaft twisted in 2. Carnage was UNREAL !!! The part that was attached to the rear diff caught a seam in the highway. The truck stopped almost dead. He said in a milli-second he was staring straight down at the road, meaning the rear of the truck launched high into the air, when the stress was too great, it pushed out the center section of the rear axle & also broke the housing. When the truck launched & stopped, his right foot pinned the gas pedal, reving the shit out of it, causing the front of the rear d-shaft to whiplash the entire under carriage. It cracked & broke the t-case, broke the tail housing off the transmission & punched a hole clean through the bed from underneath !!

There were pics posted but that was back around 2004-2008. DT wont even let me log in anymore.

I've seen the one in Saskatoon.
Install driveshaft loops on next truck, check.

My guess is flood damage.
With only 2 owners someone should know what happened. Especially the guy who spent $10,000.

Should be a bunch of flood vehicles hitting the market soon. From the deep south, and the Carolina's.

We won't see anything like that in Canada. A few years ago Calgary flooded. Saskatchewan gets kinda wet once and a while too.

I live in North Carolina and the 1st thing I'm going to ask in Carolina is if a deal looks too good to be true then it must have been a flood vehicle. The people in Canada are the perfect victims to sell a flood vehicle because they won't think about it. I'm saying the flood vehicles leave here and go elsewhere to be sold. This truck was a 2005...Do you think the flood vehicle of hurricane Katrina in 2005 where sold in New Orleans and the surrounding area? I would think it's a flood vehicle too.

If the primary units on the instrument cluster are km/h, it's probably safe to say this isn't a Katrina truck. But you're definitely right, flood damaged vehicles will get moved a long distance to be sold to suckers that don't expect it.
