I was just up in Bellaire for a vacation with the family. Super nice area. I love the Northwestern part of the LP. But, I love the U.P more. Head up there for Grouse and deer hunting every year.

Me.. I am from a small Farming/Orchard Town called Romeo, MI. Birthplace of Kid Rock (I guess that is our claim to fame). Located halfway between Flint and Port Huron straight south 15 miles.

I head to Owosso on occasion for work..

I'm a neighbour of Michigan. Does that count. Get up to Alger usually 4 times a year to Cole Canoe Base Boy Scout Camp on the Rifle River.

I live up north in the Copper Country; I do believe there are several members from the lower peninsula of Michigan on this forum.

Not that far north, but almost. We are not too far out of Houghton to the west. Copper Harbor is too far of a commute for almost everyone here... We do commonly refer to the entire Keweenaw Peninsula as the "copper country".

Lots of off-road trails and woods roads up here although some of the timber companies have started putting gates and berms to block some roads; still plenty of opportunities to go off-road - just minutes away from anywhere.

I am envious of you!! South Range, Atlantic Mine, Ontonagon? I have Hunted, fished, canoed, camped, hiked, two tracked and snowshoed all over the U.P. Even made it up there and watched the POR (press on regardless) or now LSPR (Lake superior pro rally) for about 10 years. I love it up there. It truly is "God's country". in fact, I am looking at a Giant NOAA chart/map showing lake depths from Big Bay Point to Red ridge and the entire Keweenaw peninsula hanging on my office wall. Favorite part of the state. Westward expansion passed it by.

Yeah, we tore up a lot of trails that day and I can only imagine we just barely broke the ice. Hell, we even ripped down the middle of 26 so we could get to the munk's Jam Pot hahahah. The trail map made it look like we could sneak in from the back, but the munks apparently bought off that property and put up a dang gate (well, so a landowner told us when we had to turn around in his driveway - he was a very nice man!)

My dad was born in Redridge; we live about 3 miles from there; address is Atlantic Mine but that mail carrier covers a big area. We do like it up here.

I live in Benton Harbor / St.Joe, southwest MI. Just a few miles from the Lake. We camp in the UP and northern MI allot. Just got back from Copper Habor a couple weeks ago. Going to Brimley State park next week, and do a day trip into Canada / Wawa on our touring motorcycle.
