I was on the highway last night for the first time with the new tires, holy shit are they squirmy!!!!

The truck rides way better than the Nitto's TG's, but I was a little nervous on the highway with the numb steering feedback and slow reaction time (70ish).

Tires are at 48F and 38R, front feels very numb and slow to respond as compared to the Nitto's, to the point I was going to pull over and check the front end on the highway! They are a bit numb around town as well, just not as bad.

Dealer did Ball joints and the front pinion pinion seal under warranty at the same the tires were installed, bearing and u-joints were good.

Any one else experience this?

P.S. The AT2's are noisy on the highway, more so than I was expecting, still less noise than the Nitto's which is what I wanted.

I've had a number of new tires feel loose and squirmy until about 500 miles. PSI doesn't seem off, at first I was thinking over inflated until I read the pressures. Might want to do a little bit of hard breaking or aggressive figure eights in a parking lot to scuff them some for better grip. Have you checked the track bar bushings? If the track bar has any play what so ever it can make it track all over the place depending on the tire, some are worse than others about biting the crowns in the road.

I am guessing they messed with the alignment after all that work? Might not have done it correctly.

I am thinking its time for a tracbar, I still have a clunk up front at certain times and everything else is tight.

And these tire are super sensitive to the crown in the road, way more that the nittos.

Dealer says no alignment needed for ball joints, was aligned when the tie rod recall was done and was perfect.

I am thinking they need a few more heat cycles and most of my driving is around town with some 55-60 here and there.

I have around 10,000 miles on my Toyo A/T II's and I can't say enough good things about them. They are a huge improvement over the stock BFG's that were on the truck. I know a ton of people who run the new A/T II's on Jeeps, half ton and HD trucks, tow rigs, CTD's, and everybody really likes them. I think something is goofy with your truck. I'd have an alignment done on the truck as another member mentioned.

I had to run the toyos at higher psi than other tired of same size. Play round with pressure.

My AT2's had some of this as well, my previous Toyo MT's were much more noticeable, any tire with deep tread can do this the 4G Goodyears included.

Has not been my experience. Maybe they messed up your alignment or got the balance off on a tire?

My Toyo RT's had some give to them until about 1500 miles. I would think most tires are going to take some heat cycles before they perform as designed.

Both sets of Toyo MT's I had felt loose and squirmy until I put a few miles on them. Around 1,500 miles before they settled down. There is a release agent on the tires that need scrubbed off. Try pulling a camper with new tires.

My new 37" Nitto Ridge Grapplers felt great pulling a trailer (15.8K total wt) from Oh to DC and they had less than 20 miles on them before the trip. They were set at 45 psi at the dealer & I increased to 50 psi when I hooked up the trailer for the trip.

My dad had the original open country a/t's. They were a good tire, really good in sand, snow, wet, but they were a load range E that had a softer feeling sidewall than the load range d tires that came off the truck. They also turned to absolute garbage in the snow and wet after about 30k. It is like they flipped a switch and turned to garbage. Overall they were a good tire though, but they were reasonably priced back then too.

dropped the tires to 45F and 35R and it seems a good bit better.

The tire are new and very fresh (Week 24 of 16) so they have the mold release and have not hardened up yet.

Towed my 2 place with 1500lbs+ and it was fine this time on the highway.
