Some dune action

Post by PWRider » Mon Jun 06, 2016 2:49 pm

Made a long excursion along OR NV border. Hit Christmas Valley dunes along the way. First time in dunes since putting new front axle & Bilsteins. Rig behaved surprisingly well. Much better than before but I'd have to admit sand was pretty firm this time around. No wheel-hop to speak of.

I usually air down to 15-18 PSI this time I didn't since plan was to cross dunes in a harry on way to randevu down south with rest of a groop for very cold first night We trailed sorta along southern border of OR to Owyhee canyon. Few paved roads. Some gravel and lots of nearly abandoned two tracks.

Great pictures, I haven't been out to Christmas Valley in a couple of years. That looks like a great trip.

Thanks on kind words. Here is one casualty of a trip. Whoever designed transmission cooler attached to main radiator is total dumb ass. From all the shaking over years. It finally chewed a hole through aluminum. I've started loosing notable amount of coolant on day 1. Being in a desert and all didn't add to comfort. Stuffed some ear plugs behind to prevent more damage. Eventually we made it to gas station. Some stop leak helped somewhat but not 100%

Thought those were your fingers at first!!!!! I was like NOOOOOO!
Beautiful place and great shots also ..(sorry that was a lame one).
Looks like she just ran rt up that sand hill. Does look nice and firm for a sand hill but I bet that Hemi was reving up a storm. Great stuff.

I've hit the dunes here in Oregon, too. The ones at the coast are great to explore. It's a nice touch that the engineers considered airing down when they spec'd these wheels.
Too bad all my good pics are on my wife's phone : (
