Well it's finally happened. It's finally broken in. And for its birthday? It demands that if gets new balljoints. At least a rebuild. With stock balljoints you get a little warning. Well these dynatrac don't give you any. They just go now. So in ordering the rebuild kit. Sad I only got nearly exactly 101k km on them. But with my roads and 37s I won't complain. Also planned is a steering upgrade very soon.
Bet I'm the first here to wear out dynatracs lol

First off-congrats on 300k, this is impressive ! Second, what is that in miles ? I'm too lazy to do the math, . Third, yeah :wtf: you ARE the first i have ever heard to wear out DynaTrac ball joints. Again, impressive. Has anyone ever wore out a set of Carli's Xtreme ball joints ?

186,400.358 miles. You damn Canadians and your metric system.

I was VERY impressed until I read Twinstick's posts and realized that 300,000 was not miles.

Lol. It will be 300k miles soon enough. It's just shy of 200k miles. My pops has 672k km on his 02 so figure that out in miles lol

Our 05 3500 has the Carli extreme ball joints. About 50somek miles (90k ish km) so we will see how long they really last.

Ahahahah no shit. Alright I'll refine that to first one to wear them out due to slightly more sane driving technique. Although to be fair they let me know they were done on Thursday crossing tracks on transcanada in Manitoba on the way to Brandon. So .... I win by a day ish

That's not good to hear on the Dynatracs, barely over 60K miles, did you ever grease them?

Yes every other oil change. The lower joint is horrible to grease. Upper is easier. They lasted almost 30% better than stock and the rebuild is only $330. Replacement stocks would cost $750 min plus I'd have to pull them out. I'm not upset about it

10-4, I'm almost due for an oil change and planning to grease mine at each oil change, I do 8,000 mile intervals though... I know it's the same style grease fitting like the front driveshaft, I use a hypodermic looking needle up there but that wont fit in the lower ball joint. Did you find something specific to fit in there better or use the big needle and pressure? I also use Mobile one synthetic on everything else and assume it will be fine on the ball joints...

Would this work good? https://www.grainger.com/product/LEGACY ... pler-4ZT25

I would NOT be putting another set of them in if they failed so soon. I would try the Carli's. Unless the DT's are free ?

186,000 miles is a lot of driving. I'm averaging around 8,000 miles a year. At this rate it would take me over 23 years to get to that kind of mileage.

It's $330 cad taxes and shipping in for the dt rebuild kit. And easy to do no press needed. Moog replacements are $178 for each lower and $162 for each upper. Carli joints are well over $1000 cad now. Honestly it's cheaper short term and long term to rebuild these dynatracs 2-3 more times if I'm gonna spend either $800 on Moogs or $1000+ on carli joints. So I'm not gonna complain about them. Since I know the moog factory replacements only last 50-60k if you're lucky out here

Keep in mind that when our dollar was even it wasn't bad. But when everything has increased in price by 25% due to exchange and the fact that our incomes do not increase to match the dollar (in fact they have decreased) it's almost like if you had to pay 25% more for the same product. In some cases it's closer to 40%

where did you order rebuild from
Neil? Also how do you know they are toast?? Saw a guy the other day where the stud itself actually loosened off and he was blaming dynatracs lol....

Bc diesel. And I've checked. The lower driver side has very noticeable amount of vertical play. After this many k they are corroded on so no nuts backed off.
