I'm effing pissed. I noticed this morning my topper has hit the cab at the top on both damn sides. I've tried taking pictures in the dark but need to wait until daylight to get a good one. I flexed it in a ditch this morning and can stick my fingers between the topper and the cab so I know it's not cause by slow speed flexing. Before anyone mentions it, NO, the topper is not moving, it is through bolted to the rail, none of that C clip bullshit. This past weekend I was doing some higher speed down a rough road and on power lines. May have left the ground a time or two, or at least stretched the suspension. I know I was on the Boogies a few times hitting ruts and holes. I'm wondering if the entire frame is bowing or flexing that much when higher speeds are added, if so, this sucks bad. Any of you guys that have toppers had any issues?

I'll measure it but it's been clear for a couple of years, not sure what is going on now. The picture is hard to see but there's an equal space all the way up. When I put it on, I put it as far back as I could and it still fit right.

It hasn't moved at all, the fiberglass top is scratched but that's all on it. It dented the cab enough for the paint to crack.

Anybody want to buy a Century Royal topper and a Bedslide? I guess I drive too hard to have it on my truck.

I have a Leer on mine. It hasn't hit the cab. Mine has more clearance then your's.

The true clearance average from bottom of the bed to the top of the topper, is within 1/8". The picture looks like it's closer at the top but thats the edge of the topper wrapping with the contour of the cab. Apparently the frame is allowing enough longitudinal flex for it to close up 1-1/4" at the top at a high speed landing or abrupt lift.

The bed will flex a bit but remember your cab sits on big rubber bushings. So the cab itself can be part of the culprit. Those new hydraulic cab mounts likely flex quite a bit under "boogying"

Forgot about those damn hydro mounts. Well, the topper was supposed to be temporary anyway, looks like it will be coming off sooner than later. However, it should be fine now that it cleared itself a spot.

I really doubt it's frame flex, as nts mentioned it's probably a combination of the bed itself and those giant squishy cab mounts. Damn, sorry it dented the cab! That sucks.

Personally I'd leave Em keeping the topper. Bedsides. Dents are good stories....

No doubt, I wouldn't fix the dents, maybe shoot some paint on the cracks but thats it. It has 5 years worth of my wear on it, I'm not looking for a new penny. Was just surprised that the topper has been on it for two and now it decided to mate with the cab or visa versa, maybe the truck has had enough of the topper and tried to buck it off.

Maybe somebody is just driving much more erotic now that his pig has plush suspension haha.

Yall some funny m fers But it rides soooo damn good now and has soooo much better control, you go much faster than you think you're going. I do feel better about it now though

That sucks, though the soft metal on these new vehicles it doesn't take much to get a dent anymore.

I have an ARE cap. No issues yet. Mine is secured with the "C-clamp bullshit", 4 of them & black sealant. I don't drive that fast on bad roads, & i don't have much clearance between cap & cab either, but mine is a 3rd Gen so no squishy mounts.

No pun intended on the clamps, I just didn't trust them, they're on there but backed up with bolts. Apparently it takes 4 fat asses in the cab + high speed + maybe a tire or two leaving the ground for such occurrence.

No offense taken---it's all good. I was wondering the same thing on mine though. It is VERY close to the cab, at least IMHO. I will have my roof rack & prob 2 spare camper tires up there when traveling. Plus i have a toolbox on d-side. It will also have 50-100 lbs in it when traveling. So, my cap will be heavy when loaded up & traveling. Some say the cap weighs 300-400 lbs empty ??? So, i will be looking at about 700 lbs or so loaded up. I will be looking for cracks then !!! LOL That does NOT include my bedslide or it's contents or the 400 lb tongue weight of camper. I am thinking some heavier duty springs will be in order then.

The frame will move a bit ofcourse... And it seems to move a lot more on fourth gens with less force.

I watched closely while going down a dirt road yesterday and there's a lot of movement between the cab and the bed, of course with me looking in the side mirror, i dont know which was moving more but definitely too much to have a topper on and boogie... I like the "sleeper" look.

I noticed today that after this weekends fast paced wheeling my topper has dented my cab as well.

Oh well, it's staying on for good now! Might get the rubber boot just to hide it, but that's about it.
