Transfer Case Indicator Switch Problems

Post by Nailhead » Thu Aug 13, 2015 8:37 am

The transfer case dash indicator light pretty much tells me what it wants to whenever it wants, and up until this week it wasn't much more than a distraction.

Right now, however, I am helping a buddy move off very remote property with a 4WD trail for access, and I have discovered that since the t-case switch doesn't work, neither do the lockers & the bar, which I have REALLY needed (Towing an M715 up a steep, loose road was needlessly stupid because these things didn't work).

Any ideas for changing that switch? It looks like I'll need a huge crow's foot to do it.

And where do get one? Neither Rock Auto or Auto Parts Warehouse has it listed.

Thanks.

If you do a locker bypass you tell the transfer case what you want it to know. It eliminates the sensor. At least the one I made for my truck did

Thanks guys!

The hard work is done at this point.

I'd share some pix, but apparently PWR & Tapatalk don't play nice in that area.

When mine failed, it failed open. Light on the dash just stayed on.
My mechanic had to get it from the dealer.
Big-ass wrench (1.5" iirc?) but it's a fairly simple fix with moderately easy access...
