So my truck is at the dealer to have the smart bar looked at as it would not disengage (light on dash would flash forever) just called for an update and was told the control module has failed and they have a new one to install. Does anybody have any info or experience with this? Is the the control box directly mounted to the smart bar? If so I wonder if they are replacing the whole smart bar

Yes, the module is located right on the Smart Bar. A lot of us have had them fail, usually due to water. I have learned to seal mine up really good with a combination of dielectric grease, silicone and fluid film.
The dealer usually replaces the whole Smart Bar.

Thanks JBM. I did put dia grease in the electrical connection. Guess that wasn't enough.

So the dealer ended up replacing the entire smart bar on warranty . The cost of it is $4300 Canadian. If Chrysler Canada doesn't want the old smart bar back the shop manager is going to call me to pick it up to take home. I briefly looked at the old smart bar and seen no corrosion on the electrical at all. Hoping I get the old one back so that I can take it apart to identify what failed.

Holy cat, I knew it would be expensive, but...
I'm just thinking logically here, but I would not suspect the electrical connection to be the issue. There is just a tad over 1 bazillion electrical connections on the truck... I cant imagine just that particular one has issues with moisture/crud getting in it. But then again, I have read about it on here, and I have no personal experience with them.
That would be neat if you did get it back and could do a little trial and error on it.

Water can oftentimes get in where the wires go into the back of the plastic connector fill it in with silicone sealant.

Yup, exactly what Coder said! Fill the back with silicone, put dielectric grease on the connector pins, then once it is all back together regularly give the outside a good covering of Fluid Film.

Wouldn't hurt to move the module to another place too.....:/ if you want to ditch the swaybar that is !
