How much is this Power wagon worth?

Post by countrystrong » Mon Apr 20, 2015 11:55 pm

Hi everyone. I am wondering how much a 2006 Power Wagon Laramie with Leather interior, power everything, with added 2.5” leveling kit, 17” fuel rims and 35” nitto trail grapplers after market fender flares, bumper and grill, remote start with alarm system, rhino lined bed, clean all the way around. He is asking $23,900. How much do you think it’s worth? Oh and it has 87,000 miles. Thanks.

Use nadaguides.com to get an estimate of the value.
Looks like the "Clean Retail" value for a stock 2006 with that mileage is around $20,000. "Clean Trade-in" is around $16,600. The modifications can add value IF they are in good shape and they are things you want. If you go check it out, make sure all the PW goodies are working! :D

Ant item is worth what someone is willing to pay. Regardless of what someone else says it is worth. Question is: what is it worth to you ?

Dealer said my camper was only worth 5k. I sold it for 10k.

Gotta love those salesmen. Offer you five, you got ten. They would have financed someone with high interest for twelve plus administration fees.

Well, if the dealer paid what it was worth than that would not only be stupid, but they would be out of business in a hurry. That is quite an undercut though if it was really worth ten.

To me, the majority of the time, most modifications devalue a vehicle for resale. But it really depends on what the mod and what the buyer is looking for. Personally I would not pay anymore than what the truck is worth bone stock.

Some times the truth hurts lol. I may get rid of my jeep to get a power wagon (no damn room in the garage!), but i really dont want to cause i really like this thing. But if i do, i will put it up for sale asking exactly what an equivelent one in stock form is going for. And ive put oodles of mod money into it.

I've worked in the car business selling new and used cars. The trade in values are an ACV (actual cash value) based on the Galves book. It has trade-in values that dealers have maid for similar vehicles in a particular region. That book gets published weekly. But it doesn't take into account mods, and frankly dealers frown on mods because to them for multiple reasons, such as it's now a vehicle with a tight target market reducing their ability to easily sell it, and/or they may have to support the third party mods (but almost always they put in a disclaimer that they won't), therefore reducing its value, at least to the dealer.

So, if they happen to offer some ridiculously low number for your trade-in, then they're just trying to CYOA to give themselves enough buffer to make money if they have to move it cheaper, because in some cases, they simply are not sure. But dome dealers realize that a PW does hold value and is easier to sell on the Internet than locally. Those dealers are few and far between. So it depend on the dealer.

You have to evaluate whether it's worth the drop in price for you to trade it in. One advantage is that it will reduce your paperwork, tag costs and the amount of tax you pay on it, because the trade value is subtracted from the selling price of the new vehicle (which you have to negotiate on that, too!), then the difference price is taxed, because they can't tax you on what you are selling them (your trade).

There are lots of variables.

Edited 6/5/2015 6:55pm ET for all the stupid mistakes I made trying to type all of this in from my phone.

Then it's your turn to see if offer worth it for you. Cars usually don't increase in value with age.
