Do you get attitude driving your PW?
I've noticed a few things when I'm driving my power wagon and was wondering if attitudes are universal throughout the US and Canada. Anyone in a truck who pulls up next to me at a red light is required to gun it to show me who's got more under the hood. even little Ford rangers do it. My wife didn't believe me until a guy was burning rubber by my truck repeatedly at a hotel (trying to call me out). I had to go out and wave him off. Now she's just amazed how often it happens.
Another situation is that periodically I get cut off by really small cars then they go slow. Funny thing is that more often than not it happens at night and my lights are giving them sunburn and a welding headache. I get the idea they think Darth Vader is driving my truck.
And lastly is that I no longer go into Chapel Hill cause the cops seem to have an issue with my truck. They haven't pulled me over yet but twice followed me until I left town. Cops there are known to be anal.

The most I get is an occasional doubletake. I've never had anyone be as aggressive as what you've described. But mine is stock, except the tires.

Re: Do you get attitude driving your PW?
Where I live, I am usually ignored by the "truck" guys because I don't have an 18" lift with 40" tires and chrome plated axles with skulls on them.
But the Jeep guys that actually use their vehicles off-road are much more intrigued, they stare and point, come-up and look at the rock sliders, skid plates and King shocks, and are generally very curious about my PW.

Fire Department paramedics showed up across the street on a call and the pumper crew that accompanied them stood around talking about my PW while the medics did their thing. I have gotten some nice comments from guys in gas stations, and the occasional complaint from greenies and hippies. Screw 'em.

Re: Do you get attitude driving your PW?
It's funny for me. I live in a city of over 1 million so in the city I get funny looks, probably people wondering why I need such a truck. And my co-workers in the city like to give me the gears about my truck. But for my job I travel all over rural Alberta and there I get all kinds of curious looks. And my rural co-workers all LOVE the truck.
Loving my 3/4 ton version of my old Jeep TJ!!!!!
Re: Do you get attitude driving your PW?
This is a funny topic. I find that people are always challenging me at gas stations. Sometimes i get compliments, but usually challenges. Things like "i can go any place you can go" or "how much did your truck cost----then laughs from the guy, in an old 1500 Chevy w/lift kit saying i olny have xxxx $$$ in my truck & it can haul anything & go anywhere yours can." I just smile & say "good for you". Then i get the occasional "so whats a Power Wagon ? " After i tell them, they usually either say "how much more did all that stuff cost ? " or "why do you need all that stuff ? " I tell them "about $6300" and "if you gotta ask, then you wouldn't understand."

Another way to look at this. "Do you get attitude driving your PW" Sometimes I do get an attitude. Get out of the way or I might run you over kind of attitude.

Re: Do you get attitude driving your PW?
I can honestly say that I've never had anyone ask me about the PW at a gas station, nor have I ever had anyone challenge me at a stoplight. I don't know if that's because lifted trucks are really common up here, or because I give off a bit of a "sociopath vibe" - or at least that's what I've been told. Apparently I don't look like someone that strangers want to talk to, which could either be good or bad depending on the situation.
Another factor might be that my truck looks relatively stock, in addition to being all beat up and generally covered in dirt...so it really doesn't stand out as being anything different. There're a couple of trucks up here with 12" lifts and tons of chrome doodads, so compared to those my truck tends to fly under the radar...though I'm guessing that it spends more actual time off-road than 99% of the trucks out there.

Re: Do you get attitude driving your PW?
The snorkel. I get alot of comments on it. LOL The best one was when I went out to Moab this year. I got gas in somewhere in BF Kanas. I pulled up to the pump and started pumping. On the other side of the pump. 2 red necker 20 somethings pull up driving a beat up lifted cheby. One looks over and said to the other one. "Looky here, it's a hemi diesel, it even has one of them shorkel thingys on it."
I just want to hide at the time. Because I didn't want the talk to them. If you know what I mean. I end up telling them all about the PW. I was there for about a half hour with the dim-wits. I think they still didn't understand about it.

Re: Do you get attitude driving your PW?
I find that I am more easy going when I drive the PowerWagon. When someone tailgates me in my car I tend to get upset--but when it happens in the Wagon, my attitude is "if you want to do it, it's up to you----but if I have to stop in a hurry, my bumper will be in your front seat!".
The only attitude I've ever got was from a middle age woman driving a Prius at a gas station. I was minding my own business filling up when she yelled at me saying " That big truck must make up for a small penis!"
I replied " Yes it does! My penis is small----so you should have no problem sucking it!!!!"
She left very quickly! That is the only time I have felt like driving over a car!

Re: Do you get attitude driving your PW?
I live in truck country where most trucks work for a living. People mostly respect the PW. Some are in quiet awe.
When I get to a 4-way stop, I get waved through ---- even when it's not my turn.
Construction workers shout "nice truck" and give me a thumbs-up. Firefighters do the same.
Got some weird looks at campgrounds on our roadtrip though. The teardrop trailer on 33" ATs didn't make sense to them either.

I had an encounter once with an eco-nazi bitch. When gas hit $4 gal for the 2nd time. I was filling up & she started screaming at me while she was filling up her Priass. It was so bad, the attendant came out of his booth & told her to stop harassing his customers or he would call the cops. Finally, i walked over & told her if she don't stop screaming at me, i am going to put it in 4wd & park on her hood & keep her there until the cops show up & we can both go to jail together. (actually it went more like

Re: Do you get attitude driving your PW?
I don't usually get anyone looking at the truck, mainly because folks around here don't really know the difference between the Power Wagon and just a normal 2500.....
I get more compliments at my local dealership than anywhere else. Oh well, I'm not out to impress anyone. I know what the truck can do (and does very well), so that's all that really matters.

Re: Do you get attitude driving your PW?
I do only when little men syndrome drivers pull up next to me and try to race. First off, my truck is 8,000 pounds. Second, I have a manual transmission. I could race you, but why bother? I also get pissed off when all the local "Z71 badass" owners around here run their mouths about Dodge and how shitty my truck is, etc. Low and behold, as soon as they get really stuck they call me to come pull them out
I then charge them $100 for an "inconvenience fee" to pull their Z71 back to the pavement. The snorkel also draws a lot of attention to the truck. I have gotten many complements and at a license check not too long ago I even had a cop walk up to my window telling me that it was illegal to have a through-hood exhaust system
I had to explain to him what a snorkel was and why my truck needs one. Oh well. People here (USA) need to get out more. Nearly every truck in Panama, NZ and AU had snorkels on them when I traveled through there.

That's exactly what I was thinking when I read the thread title. I haven't had mine long enough to get a lot of compliments, but I have got a few. The PW is my dream vehicle, and I finally have one! Since they came out I have noticed every one that has been within eyesight of me, you can just ask my wife.

Re: Do you get attitude driving your PW?
Wow! So it's a local thing for guys to challenge me with their trucks? I am really amazed at this? I do have power mods that you can hear but everything external makes my truck heavier not fast. Oh and my wife drives a wrangler TJ w/6" long arm and 35"s but doesn't get challenges. But she does say the other stock jeepers don't wave like they used to either.
I even had an incident today! A 2wd dually F350 pulled out of a local deisel performance shop. He was throwing out white smoke from his tires and black from the exhaust and then it just shut down on him! I just kept on driving (no I didn't stop to help).
As for compliments I feel like I get plenty and I get quite a few questions. Even from gearheads. I do get negative comments but it only takes me a minute to change their opinions. Even when I get the occasional challenge.

Re: Do you get attitude driving your PW?
When I lived off post in Olympia WA, I used to get all kinds of crap from people in their beat the hell up POS car. "How much did that thing cost?" or "bet you I can do more with my truck", "how much does it cost to fill up?" On post, I get a lot of looks and double takes. One of the NCOs in my company asked me why I didn't get a diesel
. At the dealership, one of the salesmen told me that my truck was worth it weight in gold

Re: Do you get attitude driving your PW?
The only other issue I ever come across, are people that say "I can go anywhere you can!". They are usually driving a stock 4x4 with street tires; or alternitavely have a 6" frame lift with a set of mud tires. I usually answer--"Go wherever you want---just don't bug me to pull you out!" Most people that have a decent off road rig of any form are usually very respectful and curious---I have had more that one crawl under! lol
