I've been kicking around buying a viair ADA compressor for the truck. Seems like most guys mount theirs outside the frame rails, I'm thinking that's not such a great spot beacuse of snow and slush, dirt etc that it would be subjected to. Plus it would be in the way of the mounts for the sliders I'm waiting patiently for.

I've looked for a spot under the hood but there isn't a ton of room on the 15.

Any ideas or has anyone mounted one in an alternate spot to the frame rails?

I have a second battery in my '12. Mounted to the front of the second tray. Seems to be a pretty good spot. The intake for the compressor is routed up to the cowl. You can barely see the bottom of it in the top right center of the pic. The tank is under the passenger front seat.

Mine is a 3G, but you might be able to mount a compressor or air tank in front of the radiator, even though you grill does not lift with the hood. My setup is a Warn SPI single cylinder with built-in tank and pressure switch, so no plumbing required, 12 CFM free air flow. Compressor has been discontinued, but you may be able to find one somewhere.

My plan- I am planning to mount my compressors and tank in between my tool box and the front of my bed. I am going to be fabbing up a rack to hold them. It will hold them in a vented enclosure the same height from the bottom of the bed (that way I can still slide long stuff in up under them) and the same overall height as my slim top tool box (that way no blocked view out the back) should only lose about 7" of bed space. That way, they are not under the truck being subjected to dirt, mud, and salt but also aren't under the hood being subjected to engine heat, or inside the truck where the noise would be annoying. That's my plan at least. Should be getting my materials next week. Probably just going to work on it during my breaks and lunch at work so, not gonna be together quick but, I'll put some pics up when I complete it. Oh, and I just got a SPOD to control them. BUT, I think I am going to add another relay (controlled by the SPOD) since their amp draw (I believe) is higher than what the SPOD's ideal range is. The SPOD will make wiring a TON easier either way!!!

I bet the rambox would make one hell of a place to mount onboard air.

I like the idea of mounting it under the hood, I be kinda found the only spot on my 2015 that is feasible under the hood.

The Heavy duty Viair ADA has a approx size of 9" long, 4" wide and 6" high. There is a ledge off the battery tray in the left upper aft corner of the engine bay. There is just enough room to mount the compressor on a sheet metal bracket extending off the ledge.

I wish I ordered a rambox truck. I actually lost storage in the new truck compared to my old truck, 2/3 of the under seat storage in the back is taken up with a subwoofer.

I've also been considering getting a Viair system. I was looking at the dual 480's package on Amazon and get a small tank perhaps. Haven't given it much thought as to where to put them. Under the hood gets kinda hot, although it is out of the way and close to electrical supply. Maybe one pump is best. Under the truck interests me if I can somehow protect them (seems unlikely). I also thought about mounting them up tight against the box wall, either ahead or behind the wheel well. It's more or less dead space. You would have to fabricate some type of bracket to mount it to.

twin 400c by viair. Fill a 5gal tank in 45seconds and has pressure shut off works wonders I have my on/off and pressure gauge is mounted in the glove box Have a line ran under the hood to my freight liner horns and another line ran under the box for filling tires and such

Hey Jim. 4wheel parts sells the mounting brackets for the viair compressors and they are frame mountable under the passenger side frame member. Myoung had a set up

So apparently my wife forgot to turn off the shipping text notifications from amazon and looks like I'm getting this air setup. Trying to think how to mount the whole thing. Would like to keep my bed clear....thinking of somewhere underneath just trying to figure out how to keep everything protected from rocks, mud etc. Any ideas??

There is various methods already posted. But it'll be tough to protect and be accessible. You'll have to put a removable cover to cover the side it's on

To be honest, I think this would be the best set up for me---http://www.amazon.com/ARB-Accessories-C ... ressor+kit . Easily portable from vehicle to vehicle, in a waterproof case (looks like a Pelican case). I could throw in in the car, camper, truck. I think any onboard setup for me that was mounted under hood or under truck would get corroded & messed up from the salt/sand & water of winter around here. If for some reason I needed a bigger tank, that would be an easy fix.
