Sway bar problems

Ok, I just looked at an 2012 wagon and the sway bar end link on the drivers side also, like my 09, is hitting the frame. My dealer says it is due to wear and tear but I now have seen 4 trucks all power wagons with this problem. Please look under your trucks and see cause i feel this is a problem and dodge needs to deal with it. Thanks and look forward to seeing how many trucks also have this problem.

Like Bill said- if you can post a picture I'd be more than happy to crawl under my truck to compare what you're seeing to my 2012.

I know what he is talking about and mine is doing it also. The upper end of the link where it bolts to the sway bar is slightly hitting a piece of a welded tab that sticks out from the frame when flexing. I'll get a pic.

It's hitting the edge of the track bar mount ever so slightly. It's pretty much self-clearanced now so I don't think it's going to hit it anymore. On a separate note is there any way we could up the max pic size on here or is it not possible? 2mb just doesn't seem to be big enough for anything I take anymore.

I just looked at mine and it doesn't touch at all. I've only got 27,400 miles on my truck and I'm still on stock tires and stock suspension (no lift or leveling kit installed) but I don't know if that matters.

I wish i could post a pic but i guess i need to take one. You don,t have to get under the truck, just look at the upper link connector in the wheel well of the drivers side
tire.

I'll have Leif look into that about the pic size. Might be able to bump it up to 5mb but no promises.

Most of mine are between 2.1 and 5, with a few over 5 or 6.

I have a photo bucket account, but it's gets annoying having to upload the pics I want to show, then copy and pasting links between pages.

When you post look for the "Options - Upload attachment" button and post your photo through this site. That way if you play around with your photo bucket account we won't loose the photos on this site. It is easy to resize them in the above "irfranview" program.

so there are a lot of wagon owners here and the pic that have been placed on this thread are right now i still would love for everyone to look at this and see if it is a problem or not. My 09 is stock truck but i do play in the rocks and use all the features of the truck. dealer wants 800.00 to fix this problem and admits the end links and bushing wont fix it but thats all they can do for me. and yes they get 250.00 per end link they say but i dont think that is the problem. American axle who makes the smart bar will not even talk to me and i have to go through mopar to get answers.

Crawl under the truck and take a picture of the entire smartbar to show that it itself has shifted. I would like to see if it shifts in the bushings or if it has shifted somewhere else.

the bar has shifted in the bushings. there is nothing to keep it from not shifting as i can see.

There is nothing to stop any sway bar from shifting, just the bushings themselves.

Ironically, I was under mine yesterday playing with the idea of removing my swaybar all together. It does not hit where you are talking about but it is close. I guess my tires keep it centered since they rub it.

I disconnected the end links and driving around today without it to determine if I want to delete it.

I'm wondering about it throwing a code if it's disconnected and driving me crazy but I will let you know if I decide to part with it.

remove the module and toss it beside the radiator on the pass side. I used a large band clamp and there's a small step it will sit lovely on hasn't come loose from the beatings I've put on it but I have a disconnected warning (yellow flasher on the p.wagon panel) this is remedied by installing a small piece of tape on the spring loaded plunger on the module. Also I've seen it installed in the fresh air duct of the airbox to keep it out of harms way. I soaked the end of the module with the actuator with rust check and used a small cover around it with a vent so moisture could escape the module if it got any in it! Hope this helps!

Are you talking about the entire smartbar? I unplugged it yesterday (because I liked how it handled without the swaybar) but I lost all control over lockers so I guess the "smartbar bypass kit" I have is not really that...? It has to be plugged in for it to work. I was going to ask myoung about it when I got a moment.

no there's three 9/16 bolts or 13mm bolts holding the actual "module:ECM " to the smart bar actuator! Just unbolt that from the bar and place it somewhere safe and secure then you have lockers and no check engine light

if you take a gander at it you'll see what I'm talkin bout!

I know this is old, but has anyone figured this out? My 06 is having this issue and the sway bar hits pretty hard on my steering box mounting bolt. I do have a DOR steering brace that moves the bolt out a little, and Thuren sway bar links, which are a lit longer than stock. It was hitting the tab on the side of the brace. I trimmed it a little, so now it hits the bolt. I can slide it over with a pry bar pretty easily, but it slides right back after driving a short distance. I don’t really want to just put a clamp on it unless that’s my only option. Thanks!
