I purchased my first Power Wagon this past Wednesday, it is a 2010 PW in silver metallic.

I have been looking for a clean, used PW for several years. I finally found one and I am not disappointed,It was a dealer demo with 26,000 miles on it. I am even very impressed with the fuel economy, that was a pleasant surprise.

You sure it's a PW? Nobody is impressed with PW fuel economy, except the guys who sell gasoline.

When I drove it home (2 hr drive) I got 14.5 on Interstate with cruise set at 82. On two lane roads driving 55 to 65 I am averaging 16 miles per gallon. The half ton dodges are getting around 20 hwy, so considering how much more pickup the PW's are, I really don't think it's too bad.

My old pickup was a 2001 1500 with the Off Road package (4:10 gears), I would only get 10 MPG on Interstae and on a very good day 14 MPG on two lanes. The PW is actually a step up.

Welcome to the forum! Glad another 4G PW is on board! I'm getting 14-15 with my 2011 model....except when I'm rolling heavy with lots of gear. I do even a bit better on low gravity days! 35s and extra off road armor does take a bite out of mileage, though! Of course, no one buys a Power Wagon expecting great mileage! :D

Ken, are you seriously getting 14-15 with the 35's? Are you sure you got the spedo upgraded in the computer to show you have 35's? I can only eek that out if I am going down hill for miles with a swift wind at the back. The Nitto's took 1.5 MPG away from my fuel economy numbers.

I checked my speedo against my iPhone app, and also against the speed indicator that is up at the entrance to my neighborhood. It is correct. I get that mileage on smooth, flat highway, rolling light, and at ~65 MPH. I was doing even a little better (15-16) when I had my BFG ATs on it. I used to check it all the time commuting to Fort Meade, MD during the early morning hours with low traffic. The Variable Valve Timing (VVT) technology they engineered into the newer models seems to work. The CAI also seems to help me a bit. Mind you, this is under optimal conditions. When I'm in traffic, rolling heavy, and hard on the pedal, I am down to 12 or less.

I hand calc'd 14.7 mpg today on my 70 mile round trip. I did 5 over the speed limit today and tried to get in 6th gear as soon as possible. I shifted around 2,500 RPM's and wasn't super hard on the pedal but I wasn't driving like grandma either; I went 60 in the 55 zones and tried to time the stoplights right to keep the rig rolling and I tried to coast into the 45 and 35 zones in neutral and then lug through those zones in 6th gear. My speedo is dead on with the 37's per my GPS. For a 4" lifted PW and 37's I'd say 14.7 is pretty damn impressive (granted I was trying hard to hypermile) The manual transmission helps me a lot with fuel economy IMO.

I guess a lot of it depends on where you live and what the driving conditions are. In So Cal we have to deal with winter and summer gas formula changes and ethanol. I think I calculated some time ago that the ethanol mix in my local gas costs me about 3% in MPG compared to what I can buy in Arizona for $.50 less per gallon. My life-to-date MPG is 9.8 uncorrected and about 10.35 corrected. Single best tank was 12 MPG on the day I bought the truck, during gentle break-in driving. Worst tank in town on pavement was a tick over 4 MPG. Los Angeles traffic sucks.

Going out to Moab and back this summer. The best mileage I got was in Col. at 16mpg. The worst was in Kan. at 9.9mpg. :cash: Avg was 12mpg for the whole trip of 4000 miles. Towing the camper, 6 to 8 mpg. Rausch Creek, 1.5 mpg. :excited:

Thanks for the Welcomes. I am pretty stoked to finally have a PW!

I almost bought an 07 a few years back, but I went and looked at it and it had been used and abused. I then saw the 4G's coming out and knew that is what I wanted. I was going to order a 2012 ST PW this fall, but found this very clean used one. I prefer to buy year or two old used vehicles so I don't take the hit driving a new one off the lot. This worked out very well. :D

I also have a 79 Ramcharger that I have had for 20+ years. It has a built 318, 2" lift, and 33" tires. I am currently restoring a 47 Willys CJ2A Jeep. I like my 4X4's.

My Ramcharger had the factory roll bar. I also have a Bestop soft top for it which is nice. The old girl has a lot of rust, but it just keep running.

Years ago I bought a set of tire changes for it in 33X12.50-15's (all four tires). I checked this morning and the chains will fit on the tires on the PW. They are now in the tool box in the back of the pickup. If I ever have to chain up and can't get around, then it means I should get a D8 Cat.
